Finally, A Good Night Rest

Finally, I was able to get a good night rest after three nights of not getting enough sleep.

My sleeping trouble started last Tuesday night, after having tonsilitis the previous week, I was coughing badly that night and was sweating profusely. I was having problem with my breathing so I cannot find a sleeping position that suits me.

I ended up getting some snooze at two in the morning and I have to be up at five for work.

Upon waking up the following day, I promised myself that I'm going to bed early Wednesday night to catch up on my lack of sleep the previous night.

I was in bed as early as eight in the evening but the same thing happened, I couldn't sleep because of my difficulty in breathing, my excessive coughing and I was really sweating hard. Sleep came to me at eleven in the evening.

The next day, I told myself I'm not going to do any strenuous activities for the day so that I wouldn't be tired when evening comes.

On my way back to our house, after another day at work, I was having difficulty in breathing again and that my coughing started again ;I realized that for the past three days, my difficulty in breathing started at night time as well as the coughing. I don't have any problem at all during the day.

The same thing happened to me as I went to sleep, I was in bed early because I feel really tired and out of breath, only to fall asleep close to eleven in the evening.

The following day, I consulted my aunt who's a physician about my condition and she told me that I'm having asthma attacks and prescribed some medications for me to take.

I never had asthma before but this illness is in our family's medical history. Both my parents and my two siblings had it when they were young but they've outgrown it. I was the only one who had no asthma when I was little so I thought I was spared from it. Sadly, the condition manifested now that I'm in my thirty's.

My aunt told me that my asthma was triggered by my cough and by the very hot weather we had in the country these past few days.

Last night, when I was starting to have my asthma attack, I popped the medicine and in a matter of few hours, I can breathe easily and was off to dream land at 8:30 in the evening.

Finally, I had the good night rest I was hoping for.

Summer Time is Here

It's only the last week of February but you can already feel how hot and humid the weather is, the cold season has ended and it's summer time already.

It's the time now to take out those sleveless shirts, shorts and other loose clothings to make us feel comfortable.

It's the time now to cool off ourselves with cold summer treats of ice cream, halo-halo, mais con yelo .In our neighborhood, Halo halo ( shaved iced with sweetened fruits and other preserves ) stands abound with many customers queing to have their cold treats.

And of course, now is the time to troop to the beach and have that fun family or friend outings.

Enjoy the summer season!

Projects For The Year

For this year, I have started two projects already and I'm determined to finish these projects until the end of the year.

Last January, I started my being fit project by running almost everyday and attending Dance-Aero-Taebo exercises on Sundays.

Then on this month, I started my reading project by reading at least one book for a month. I'm done with my first book - "Emma" by Jane Austen and I've now started reading my second book which is another classic - "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea" by Jules Verne.

As the new month approaches, I'm thinking of doing another project. This time, I'm thinking of starting a garden project for the house. It would definitely be lovely to be seeing some greens and flowers in beautiful outdoor planters surrounding the house.
But for this project, I need to ask my father's help because he's good with plants and has a green thumb. I can just assist him with the planting, watering of plants and even in selecting the garden planters.

It would be beautiful too, if I can also place even a single indoor planter to make the inside of our house attractive too.
Before I continue with my planning I must consult my father first if he agrees with my plans.

Done With My First Book

I'm done with my first book for the year.

I made a new resolution this month to at least read one book for each month.

"Emma," by Jane Austen was the book, I'm done reading. I must be honest that I had a difficult time finishing it. Maybe because I have a hard time understanding complex old structured English sentences. :) This novel was written in the 18th century and is considered a masterpiece in English literary.

It reflected the life and times of that period. The role of the woman in the society, the importance of writing letters as it is there only means of correspondence at the time, their form of entertainment.

I don't enjoy the main character here which is Emma, I like Mr. Knightley's role more as well as that of Jane Fairfax' as the suffering lover.

Now that I'm finish with "Emma," I'm now moving on to a book I've started reading in 2006 and never get to finish and it's Jules Verne's "Twenty Leagues Under the Sea."

This time, I'm going to finish this book about Captain Nemo and his Nautilus.

No Respect

Last Friday, our office printer runs out of ink so I went to the mall to buy a new cartridge as soon as the mall opens at 10:00 am.

Upon entering the mall, I heard the Philippine National Anthem being played, I stopped at the side of mall and paid my respect to the National Hymn.

It was just sad to realize that while some people stopped from walking or whatever it was they were doing, many other people continued walking and did not pay respect to the National Anthem. Were they not taught that it was their duty as Filipino citizens to stop, to sing and to pay respect to the National Anthem, every time it was being played?

Decisions,Decisions,Decisions

I have posted last week that I am planning to create a new blog. But up to know I still haven't come up what kind of a niche blog it would be.

Perhaps, I am confused because there are a lot of topics that interest me. I want the new blog to be informative. I want those who reads it will learn something from it.

Someone suggested that it should be a food blog because she loves reading about food and someone suggested that my opinion about the issues of today can be a good subject for a new blog.

Well, I definitely like food and I must agree that it's one of the things I'm considering. I also like to share something about saving and investing.

I have a some investments in mutual funds and I would like to share how I invested and why I choose to invest my money on it. I know that a lot of Filipinos are not aware of the benefits of investing their money in mutual funds.

Oh well, I'm still not sure what it will be.

Another thing that I'm still deciding on is finding the best provider for my blog hosting This time, my new blog will be on paid hosting.

I have been browsing through the internet looking for paid blog hosting provider that is affordable yet provide quality blog hosting services.

I have to decide already because I want to have my new blog up by next month.

Not Feeling Well

I really feel sick. I have a slight fever and my throat hurts.

It must have been the ice cream I had last night and the result is swollen tonsils. I only ate not even half of the pint Strawberry Cheesecake flavored ice cream.

When I went to bed at nine, I was perfectly fine but when I woke at around half past ten in the evening, I was feverish and my troat really hurt.

Yay! I hope I will be well by Sunday because I have Aero-Dance-Taebo Session in the morning and a movie date in the afternoon.

Rude Caller

Last Sunday morning at around 2:30 am, I was awakened by the ringing of our landline. I hurriedly got up from bed and answered the phone thinking that it could be an emergency or an urgent message that cannot wait.

It turned out to be a prank call by someone who has nothing better to do than just to annoy other people. One call wasn't enough for him, he called a second and a third time that we don't have any choice but to bring the volume of the phone to zero since the ringing of the phone was waking almost all the household already.

I don't get this kind of people, they don't have consideration for others. If they can't sleep or they are in some kind of duty at work, they should just let others sleep in peace. They have to understand that other people do wake up at the wee hours of the morning to answer calls thinking that it could be an emergency.

My Valentine's Flowers and Chocolate

This is the bouquet of of flowers I got from my boyfriend yesterday! =)

Malaysian mums in different colors.

And here's my chocolate treat..... a box of Ferrero Chocolates...

Valentine's Day 2010

Valentine's Day started with my brother and I waking up really early to attend the Aero,Dance-Taebo Session at the Quezon City Circle.

The exercise session is basically a combination of Aerobics, Taebo and Dance. For this more than one hour session we paid twenty pesos only for each person. About four years ago, my brother and I religiously attend this exercises.

I was so glad because even if it has been years since my last session doing these exercises, I can still keep up with the routine. There has been some variations with the exercises but what I like most is the new dances they incorporate to the whole program. We danced to the tunes of "Buttons" by Pussycat Dolls, "Insomnia" by Craig Davis, "Noboby, Nobody But You", and other danceable tunes. I super love the dances and I can't wait for next Sunday for another round of Aero, Dance-Taebo Session.

After the Aero-Taebo-Dance Session, I still had the energy to run two rounds around the running track of the park. My stamina is really improving.

My brother gave me a breakfast treat at Tropical Hut Hamburger after our exercise. I only had a burger, a small order of french fries and iced tea. I was still a little bit hungry after eating everything I've ordered but I refrained from getting more food because my exercise would be useless if I going to stuff myself with more food.

Boyet, my boyfriend would usually have lunch with my family every Sunday but yesterday he was late for lunch. And I knew that he would be late because he would be getting my flowers for Valentine's, and I was right because he came to our house with a bouquet of flowers for me. =).

For our afternoon snack, Boyet helped me prepare my tuna pasta. He has been very supportive of my cooking. He chopped the ingredients, cooked the pasta and the rest of the dish that I ended up giving the direction on how to cook it. The tuna pasta taste good and bf appreciated it. He was a little apprehensive at the start because he never have tried tuna in his pasta before.

My Valentine's Day would have turned sour if I wasn't able to control my emotions. Bf was a little irritable yesterday and not in his best mood. I didn't gave in to the temptation at snapping back at him and tried my best to understand him. He has been in so much stress from work the previous days and I know that this stress is taking a toll on him

After watching movie on dvd, bf told me that he will just lie down at the sofa for ten minutes because he feels really tired. When I checked on him, he was sleeping already. That was the first time yesterday while he was sleeping that his face soften up. I let him sleep for an hour.

Boyfriend was in good mood after his sleep and was ready to talk about the things that's bothering him. I was right all along, he is in so much stress. I really hope things will be okay these coming days for his business.

That's how Valentine's Day was for me this year.

A New Blog

I’m thinking of starting a new blog but this time it would be on paid hosting with its own domain name.

I still don’t know what my new blog will be.

This blog will be my personal blog and the other one will be more of a niche blog focusing on a category I’m interested in.

My interest are in health and fitness, food, finding ways on how to earn and save money, or something about lifestyle.

I’ll keep you all posted on what my new blog will be.

A Valentine's Day Treat For Him

My boyfriend has been working hard these past few days and I can sense how stressed he has been.

I wished I can lessen his work problems but when I asked him how I can help him with his business he just smiled at me and told me that he can handle it.

With Valentine's Day fast approaching, I wanted to do something special for him. During the past Valentine's Day, I could say that it's more of my day because he's the one planning how that day will be and he makes it a point to make it extra special for me.

This year, I'll make sure that he'll enjoy that day and feel relaxed. I don't think will go out that day, it would be best just to stay at our house to avoid the crowd.

I'll be preparing a pasta dish for him and a chicken dish too, because chicken is his favorite. I'll checked some DVD's which he might enjoy. These are just some of the ideas I have for Valentine's Day.
Do you have any other suggestions for making his Valentine's Day memorable?

Pyromusical Competition and Crowd Control

For all fireworks display lovers out there, there will be a pyromusical competition that will be held at the SM Mall of Asia Seafront on February 21, 2010 at 7:00 pm.

The 1st Philippine International Pyromusical Competition will showcase grand fireworks displays by different competing countries.

The event is truly a light and sound spectacular you should not miss.

In any big event like this, crowd control is an essential factor to consider for it to be successful. Crowd control is necessary in sports/entertainment events, concerts and big trades to prevent stampede, riots and other untoward incidents from happening. It is needed to ensure that their will be orderliness in the venue, starting from the time the people lined up to enter the event and ends when the last participant leave the venue.

Stanchions, velvet rope, barricades are some products that can be used for crowd control.

If you're having an event and want to secure the safety and orderliness of your attendees you have to consider how to address your crowd control.

God's Whisper

I subscribed to God's whisper for my day to day inspiration. This is the message I have today that I would like to share with you:

My Birthday Celebration

I woke up really early on the day of my birthday, February 7. The first agenda of the day is to hear mass at Holy Family Church.

For my birthday, my lovedones and I decided to eat out........outside the house by the front yard for lunch. LOL. :) Papa cooked Sinigang while my boyfriend and my brother Paul grilled beef. My youngest brother cooked the buttered mix vegetables. We had fruit salad for dessert.

Here's my solo shot...

My family having lunch outside the house, at the
background is our old pull out bed for disposal :)

We also feasted on my creamy penne pasta which I made and on the Ube Torte that bf bought for me.

Here's a picture of my father with the cake and the creamy penne
inside our house

My brother did not attend their company outing because it was my birthday and he kidded me, saying he wouldn't miss my birthday because of all the delicious food we have.

I was so stuff with all our yummy treats that I wasn't able to eat dinner already.

I had a simple celebration at home but I was so happy because it was in the company of the people I love most. My close friends texted me on my mobile, called me on our landline and left messages here in my blog and facebook account to greet me.

I feel loved and super blessed because of these special people in my life.

Christmas in Hongkong and in Macau

I wish I could say that I was the one who spent Christmas in Hongkong and in Macau; but it wasn't me but my aunt's family who celebrated Christmas in those places.

I was looking through their beautiful pictures at facebook and I can help but wish that I was with them during their trip.

In Hongkong, they spent much of their days trying the countless rides at the Hongkong Disneyland and at night watching the magical fireworks display. Part of their Hongkong itinerary is the endless shopping spree.

While they were in Macau, they stayed in a hotel with a casino. The whole family would go inside the casino and just watch the people trying their luck on the slots and roulette, playing poker or black jack. They didn't try casino gambling but were just at the casino to eat the free sandwiches and drinks offered at the casino and to enjoy the entertainment.

My uncle even dared one of my cousins to sing in front on the stage because there were some sort of a videoke night during the time of their visit. But my cousin did not dare even if she is a good singer but told her dad that next time they visit she will be ready with her performance.

Every time the family will go to the casino , the youngest daughter will be asked for her identification card because she looks too young to be twenty. I'm not sure if an identification card will be needed if its online casino she's trying to access.

They had so much fun at Macau and in Hongkong that as early as now they are planning again to spend their holidays at those places.

Presents, Presents, Presents

To all who greeted me last Sunday on my birthday thank you so much. To Shimumsy, Gorgeous Mum, Mhar, David DeWall, Nurseabie, Vera, Rocks, Sandee and Marose, your well wishes made my birthday extra special.

Happy Birthday To Me

Yey! It's my special day today!

glitter-graphics.com

Have a slice of my birthday cake and let's celebrate the day!

My New Hair Cut

On the eve of my birthday I had a haircut. I always have my hair long and layered.I wanted to try something different this time so I had it cut short and with bangs.

I regret this new style because I don't think it suit my face. Since, I can't do anything about it, I just have to wait for a few more months to have my long hair back. For the meantime, I'm just clipping my bangs at the side because I don't really like my bangs. :(

My old look with long hair.......

My new hairstyle........:(

Second Floor Flooring

Our second floor flooring needs to be changed because most of our vinyl tiles are worn out at the up stair flooring because these vinyl has been installed almost thirteen years ago.

Two years ago we had our first floor vinyl flooring changed to granite tiles.

This year our home improvement efforts are set on our second floor flooring.

My family are set to have the old vinyl flooring change to new vinyl flooring. But as I was surfing the net looking for new vinyl designs, I saw that aside from vinyl; hardwood flooring and laminate flooring can be used for our up stair flooring.

UK Direct Flooring with twenty five years of experience in the flooring business and their solid relationships with many flooring manufacturers is truly the floor specialist. They offer a wide array of flooring products may it be solid wood flooring, laminate flooring, engineered wood flooring, florence flooring and others, name it and they have it. They also have rugs and carpets.

With all these lovely flooring products out in the market, my family is having a hard time in choosing what our new second floor flooring will be.

An Afternoon Treat

I attended our office meeting at our head office in Pasig City this morning. The meeting ended at twelve in the afternoon and all those who attended the meeting were treated to lunch.

I only ate a little at the office so by the time I reached Cubao on my way home I was really hungry. I went to Ali Mall and I was set to eat at KFC's when I remembered that Sbarro has opened a new branch at Ali Mall.

I treated myself to a slice of Supreme Pan Pizza with added extra cheese and mushroom and a glass of Raspberry Iced Tea at Sbarro. For dessert I got myself a Double Chocolate Almond Blizzard at Dairy Queens.

After eating lunch, I went to my favorite hair cutter and had a new haircut. I have a short haircut and I have hair bangs. I'm not sure if the haircut suited my face. I will post picture later because I'm sleepy already.......I'm just going to get a short nap.

Applying For An Eon Card

I filed for an under time leave yesterday. I was out of the office at two in the afternoon so I can transact my business with Union Bank.

I applied for an eon card/ewallet at Union Bank. The eon card will help me withdraw my money from paypal.

If you want to apply for an eon card, go to any of the nearest Union Bank branch in your area, bring two valid identification cards, it would be better if it's your SSS/GSIS card and TIN card you're going to bring because they will be needing your SSS/GSIS and TIN numbers in your application. Have your identification cards photocopied also.

According to the Union Bank Employee, my eon card will be ready in five to seven days. The annual fee for the card is P350.00 which I'm going to pay once I've received my card.

Can't wait until next Friday so I can cash out some of my money at paypal.

A Pleasant Suprise

Yesterday was such a tiring day at work. After office hours, I still need to go to the supermarket to do my grocery.
I was about to ride the jeep on my way home after my grocery shopping when I remembered I've forgotten to buy the oyster sauce my father needs for the dish he's going to cook the following day.
I don't want to go back to the supermarket because it was a long walk going back to the supermarket and I was carrying four heavy plastic bags containing my groceries. I've decided to drop by the smaller grocery near our place and just ride a tricycle from there.
I was a little irritated because I was tired already, all I want is to rest but I have no choice but to get the oyster sauce.
Since the small grocery is near the church, I passed by the church's office to offer mass for myself because it's my birthday on Sunday.
I hurriedly went inside the small grocery, bought the oyster sauce and when I was about to step out of the supermarket, I saw a good high school friend of mine, I've haven't seen for years.
I was so glad to see her that I gave her a big hug!
The last time we saw each other was fourteen years ago during our high school graduation. I was trying to reconnect with her through facebook but was unsuccessful because she doesn't have an account.
We became really close in fourth year high school, we would talk about our little problems and share stories about our crushes. Who would have thought that the boy she constantly chat about in high school will end up to be her husband.
She's happily married and is a stay at home now with four kids, two boys and two girls.
We were not able to talk for long because she still needs to buy groceries for dinner and that her two boys were left in the care of their lola and she needs to pick them up.
We just exchanged mobile and telephone numbers so we can schedule another meeting with one another.

The Harlem Globetrotters

Did you know that the Harlem Globetrotters started as a competitive basket ball team? that they only goof and perform their funny antics when they only have a comfortable lead against their opponents?

The team which was organized in the 1920's was invited to play in the World Professional Basketball Tournament in 1939. They reached the semi-finals but lost to the New York Rens that eventually became the champion for that year. The following year the Harlem Globetrotters beat the New York Rens in the quarterfinals and became the champion when they defeated the Chicago Bruins in the finals.

The Harlem Globetrotters slowly worked on their comic routines, until they became known more for their exhibition games more than their athleticism.

They have brought their hilarious and entertaining acts all over the United States and in other parts of their world.

The Harlem Globetrotters visited the Philippines last year and unfortunately I wasn't able to get hold of the Harlem Globetrotters tickets.

If you are a big fan of the this exhibition basketball team and want to know when they are going to visit your city or you want to reserved tickets at the venue where they are going to perform, you may check out acheapseat.com.

ACheapseat.com helps you get the tickets you need at the lowest price ever. This professional ticket brocker can get you the BANK ATLANTIC CENTER TICKETS, BENEDUM CENTER TICKETS or the MGM Grand Garden Tickets you need to watch your favorite artist in concert or the sports team you like in action.

Quaker Oats Oatmeal Cookie-A Healthy Snack

I've tried Quaker Oats Oatmeal Cookies last month and I've been snacking on it eversince. I was suppose to blog about the first time I tried it but I always forgot to rave about it here in my site.

In the afternoon, I always find myself craving for snacks but all the available food in the canteen is usually heavy for my liking. I wanted something light for my merienda because in a few hours I will be eating dinner already. When I don't have any snack in the afternoon, I tend to over eat at dinner time because I feel so food deprived.

I've been on the look out for light snacks to satisfy my afternoon hunger. I've discovered that aside from Skyflakes, raisins, Rebisco thin wafer, a cup of energen (the other snacks I enjoy ); Quaker Oats Oatmeal Cookies is a good afternoon snack.

Quaker Oats Oatmeal Cookies are yummy and healthy at the same time. It comes in three flavors: Apple and Cinnamon, Honey and the third is Raisins. Among the three variants, I would say that Raisins is my favorite. It is affordable too, a pack with three pieces of cookies inside cost P12.00 only.

A New Goal For The Year

Because I am able to keep my resolutions for the year with flying colors, I decided to add another one.

I was cleaning and rearranging books on my bookshelf when I noticed a lot of books I've purchased that I haven't read.

My new goal for the year is to read at least one book for the month and because I'm only starting this resolution for this month, I must compensate by reading two books this February.

I am starting my book reading challenge with a classic novel by Jane Austen entitled "Emma."

I'm so excited to discover in December how many good books I'm going to finish reading in 2010!

Brand Name Drug or Generic Prescription Drug

Is a brand name drug better than a generic prescription drug? Below are some differences between a branded drug and a generic drug.

A branded drug is a medicine with a trade name and is produced by a well established pharmaceutical company while a generic drug is the bioequivalent of the branded drug; the generic name is the actual chemical name present in the drug.

Both the branded and the generic drug contain the active ingredient; they only differ in the other non-active components present in the medicine.

A branded drug is expensive because the pharmaceutical company that manufactured it spends a lot of money on research to come up with a new medicine suited to alleviate a particular illness or health condition. After the research, a huge amount of money is needed to have it approved by the government and to introduce it to the market.

A generic drug is generally cheaper than the branded drug because it doesn’t have to spend on research because an extensive study has been done by the pharmaceutical company that produced the branded medicine. It doesn’t have to spend too much on marketing because the branded drug has been introduced already; all they need is to make people know that a generic drug exists.

Although, generic drugs are cheaper than the branded drugs, we have to ask our physician if we could have it as a replacement for the drugs prescriptions given to us because although the generic drug has the same active ingredient we cannot be sure about the side effects of the other non active components present in the generic drug.

January Wrap - Up

It's the first day of the new month!

I'm so excited about February because it's my birth month and Valentine's Day. :)

January has been a pleasant month. The first month of the year was all about setting goals and making the initial steps in meeting those goals.
One of my resolutions for the year is becoming more physically fit.

While running yesterday on my 7th round on the oval track of the Marikina Sports Complex, I realized that I was able to run that far with so much ease unlike when I first started during the first week of January that I was already catching my breath on the first round. I'm so happy that my stamina has improved.

During my younger years, I wasn't the athletic type of person, I barely passed my physical education classes. In my volleyball class, I failed in having any service I've made passed the net and I cannot even complete a dig pass. When I had basketball for my physical education, I cannot even make a free throw. It make me think if I was still in high school can I run as far as I can run now.

I'm so excited to see how my running will improve this February.

Another resolution, I've made is to be more financially stable.

I am able to save last month and I was able to make an additional investment in my mutual fund. I was able to save more last January because I was able to make more money out of my online income. I'm more inspired to find new ways in making more online earnings.

I'm grateful because most of the ideas I've got came from other bloggers who were gracious in sharing how they earn through the internet.

January was a good month because I was able to reconnect and bond with relatives I have not seen for a long time. January has been all about relationship, rekindling relationship with loved ones.

I'm grateful to God for the many blessings and opportunities that came last month and I'm thankful because graces will abound for this new month.
