KFC's Double Down Sandwich

Before heading home from the Kerygma Conference I attended at the PICC, my brother and I went to KFC for our dinner.

I immedietely ordered their newest offering the Double Down - two bacon stips, monterey jack and pepper jack cheese and a special Colonel sauce sandwiched between two breaded chicken breasts.

The first few bites is satisfying and then I couldn't enjoy it anymore because of the many overwhelming flavors I'm tasting. I am craving for a bun to go with it or even rice to eat it with just to even out the taste. I only ate half of it and gave it to my brother.

When my bf and I watched a movie last Sunday, he ordered this same sandwich for his take out. Knowing how he loves meat, this treat is something he will really enjoy. After finishing his double down, he said that he can only eat one because the sandwich is too oily.

Double Down cost P100.oo, P115 with a drink and P135 if you order a sidings and a drink.

If you want to give a try be sure to order a bun or a rice to go with so that you can enjoy it more. :)

Blogs Update

Last month was not a productive month for this blog. I only had two posts. But I am happy that although it is already the end of the month I was still able to write eight short posts before this article. And I know that in the coming days I will be able to write more and post more. I already made a list of the topics I will write about because there are so many wonderful things that happened during the last few days.

November started slow for me and there were days in it that I could consider as trying days. But the Lord has been very faithful and He showed me His infinite grace even if I resisted it at first. So I'm ending this month with a bang and with a grateful heart.

This blog surely has a lot of activity in the coming days but I cannot say the same thing for my other blog. It is really hard to maintain two blogs and I am just amazed with those who can have three or more blogs and keeps them all updated. My "Happy and Healthy Me," blog last post was written in the second week of October.

I am really at a lost about what to post in there because that blog is more on posting tips on healthy and happy living which is different from this blog which talks about the events that are happening in my life right now.

But I do not want to give up my "Happy and Healthy Me" blog because I love the layout of the blog, I paid for its domain name and I'm even thinking of having my own web site hosting for that blog.

I need to squeeze out all my creative juices so I can breathe some life into my other blog.

Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene (Quiapo Church)

After the Kerygma Conference at the PICC which ended at around 5:30 pm I asked my brother Paul if we could attend the anticipated mass so that we don't have to wake up early for the Sunday mass the following day and he agreed. We were supposed to hear the 7:00 pm mass at our own parish but that did not happened because at 6:30 pm we were still at the Carriedo Station of the LRT. My brother suggested that we hear mass at the Quiapo Church instead.

I have only been to Quiapo Church once and last Saturday was the first time for me to hear mass at this church.

Although, it is located at the heart of a busy business district of Quiapo with all the noisy vehicles passing by just outside the church. my brother and I were able to experience the solemnity of the mass there.

There were only a few people attending the 7:00 pm anticipated mass which I know is different during Fridays were the church is jam packed with people who are devotees of the Black Nazarene.

Inside the church were civilian clothed security guard that roamed the church to safeguard the people attending the mass.

It was a wonderful experience to visit this church, next on our list is to visit the Baclaran Church because my brother and I haven't been there yet.

Confessions of an Impatient Bride

I'm thirty-one and by next year my age will no longer be in the calendar. Although, I'm in a relationship right now with the man I want to be with for the rest of my life there are still some areas in our lives that needs to be fixed before we could settle down. And these issues can sometimes drive me nuts and make me want to literally dragged my boyfriend to the altar. Waiting for the right time can be a very tiring task.

Good thing though I got a chance to buy the book "Confessions of an Impatient Bride" by Rissa Singson - Kawpeng at the Kerygma Conference I attended last Saturday. It's a book on the "Godly lessons you can learn while waiting for the Mr. Right." Well, I can eliminate the last two words because I am just waiting for my Mr. Right to take me to the altar.

I have read some pages already but I'm slowly reading this one because I want to take the time to absorb every word written because it contains gems of truths I must remind myself often specially on the topic of God's love and grace.

I was hesitant at first to buy this book because I'm a little financially challenged a the moment but I'm grateful that I did bought it because Rissa wrote it beautifully. It's like I'm listening to an elder sister who has gone through what I'm experiencing right now and giving me an advice how to handle the situation.

My Favorite Verse For The Week

"He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out from the bog and the mire,
and set my feet on a hard, firm path and steadied me as I walked along."

Dreaming Of Our Own House

Last Sunday, my boyfriend and I went to Antipolo City to meet up with a real estate broker. We scheduled an on site tripping to the proposed village this broker's company is building and see if there is a possibility of making an investment in that place.

I have high hopes about the site tripping and the previous week before the said date I was dreaming of having a house with our own house mailboxes with my future husband in that area. I could picture myself bringing in our own furniture, putting up curtains and painting our wall mount mailbox outside the house.

But that dream is still a dream because the house tripping is a disappointment. In the brochure it says that it's just merely fifteen minutes from Shopwise Antipolo but in truth it took us almost thirty minutes to be there. The village is too obscure there's no hospital and supermarket near the place. The road leading to the place is still dirt road. The agent told us that a number of people were living in the village already but there's only a few constructed houses with wall mount mailboxes outside.

I guess we are back to house scouting again and hopefully the next agent and house trip will be a success so that my boyfriend and I can have our dream house with wall mounted mailboxes soon.

My Favorite Verse for the Week

My favorite verse of the week comes from Psalm 139: 13-14, 16

"For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my
mother's womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and
wonderfully made.
Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of
them,
the days that were formed for me,

Joey Pepperoni Pizzeria

After my appointment with my doctor last Saturday and doing some Christmas shopping my brother and I tried out Joey Pepperoni Pizzeria.

I always passed by this establishment everytime I go to SM Cubao Savemore for grocery but never had the chance to try it because I don't want to dine alone. So when my brother accompanied me for shopping I suggested we try Joey Pepperoni.

Alfredo Pasta

Pesto Pasta

Pizza Margherita

My brother tried their Alfredo Pasta while I had the Pesto Pasta then we both ate the Pizza Margherita. He liked his pasta and he sampled my pesto pasta and enjoyed it too. I don't think there's anything special with their pasta. The Alfredo pasta has an overpowering buttery taste while the Pesto pasta tasted liked grass. The Pizza Margherita saved the day because it really taste good even if it has tomatoes and basil as the basic ingredients. It's thin crust is crunchy and is really yummy.

We were the only customers at Joey Pepperoni at eleven in the morning yet the service is too slow. It took fifteen minutes to have the pasta served to us and we were already finished with our pasta and waited for more than five minutes before we get to taste the pizza.

I hope they do something to improve their service. I might give Joey Pepperoni one more time and give their other pizzas a try.

Last November 8, 2010, our family received a great blessing - the birth of my beloved niece Savannah Ysabelle.

She's a charmer that everyone in the family is head over heels in love with her.

Keeping Children Safe

I was doing some chores the other day when I overheard a group of kids passing by our house loudly singing a familiar song but I was so surprised because the lyrics of the song were substituted with obscene words. I had to stop from what I'm doing to make sure I heard the words right and I was shocked that those words were indeed foul words.

It is sad that at an early age they have encountered those words. I know that perhaps they have heard those words from their own parents, from other children and other older people in the environment but they do not really know what those words really mean.Aside from their environment, children are exposed to so many things because of the internet. They might be accessing sites that are not for children and probably heard those bad words from there and thought those words sound funny or cool

I hope those kids' parents heard them singing those songs and have already corrected them that those words are not for children and are foul words. Their parents should traced where their children most probably heard those words, if they discovered that they as parents were guilty of saying those words then they should stop saying those words because they served as an example for their children and if its from the internet then they should closely monitor the internet use of their children.

Internet exposed children to many things that are not appropriate for their age. One of the things parents can do is to install a Keylogger on their computer. A keylogger will help them track down what sites their children are visiting. Aside from knowing where their kids surf, they can also determine if their children are chatting in the internet with dangerous people posing as another kid or as a teenager. If a parent suspects that their kids might not only chatting with dangerous people in the net but communicating through mobile phone as well there is also a sim card reader that reads deleted messages available in the market today.
