Choosing The Best

We are connected! Yes, it was only last week that we had our dsl connection at home.

For years, we were using the dial-up internet connection. But my brothers and I got tired with the slow connection and the inability to download music, videos and games.

The first decision we had to make was to choose whether we will go prepaid or postpaid with our internet services, the second is which internet service provider to choose and of course we have to consider how fast we can connect to the internet and how much we have to pay for the internet connection services.

After reviewing and comparing the services of pldt, smart, globe and sun, we finally got the services of pldt and we were not disappointed.

Now that the issue about internet connection has been settled, I am now trying to decide whether I'll continue with the free web hosting services I have at the moment or go with paid web hosting.

If I have my blog with paid web hosting, my blog will load faster in the internet, I can post more pictures and videos and I can have my own domain name.

But to be honest, I really don't know a lot of things about web hosting and what criteria to set in choosing the best web hosting provider for my needs.

There are a lot of web hosting providers to choose from, and I am grateful that a site like webhostinggeeks.com is there to help me choose the best web hosting provider for my needs.

Webhostinggeeks is a site that gives an independent reviews about the different web hosting providers. It list down the rank, the different features and bonus features each web hosting providers give to its clients. Through these reviews one can compare the space, traffic and price of each web hosting provider.

It is important to note that the web hosting provider in its list offer their professional services for less than ten dollars a month, and it comes with at least one domain name and a money back guarantee.

Aside from the review, the site also contains articles to help internet users like me learn more about web hosting. One of the articles I find most useful in helping me choose my web hosting provider is the article on web hosting guide. The article list down the most important aspects of web hosting to consider in choosing the web hosting provider, like disk space and band width, programming tools and OS, pricing aspect, support, security, guaranteed uptime and back ups.

So before signing up and getting the services of a web hosting provider be sure to check first webhostinggeeks.com so you can make the best informed decision.

I will definitely be visiting this site often to help me in choosing the best web hosting provider for my needs.

Happy Weekend

I'm so excited!

A few hours from now and it's the end of another work week.

I am looking forward to the long break that starts this Friday and will end on Monday. On August 31, 2009, the nation is celebrating its National Heroes Day, a day of remembering the courage and sacrifices of our heroes.

The weekend break will give me the opportunity to rest and to work on some of the household chores neglected over the week. I really need to organize things inside my bedroom and to fix the closets where we placed our bedsheets, blankets and pillow cases because everything is in disarray.

And I'm going to watch :

There has been a lot of good reviews made by bloggers about this movie. I am going to watch this movie with Boyet this coming Sunday and see for myself if it's really funny and heartwarming as said by those who were able to watch already.

I wish everyone a happy and blessed week.

Yellow Day !

Today is the 26th Death Anniversary of former Senator Benigno Aquino Jr. And aside from commemorating his heroism, today the nation continues paying its tribute to the former senator's late wife, former President Corazon Aquino who passed away on the first day of this month.

This nation owes its democracy to these two people.

When the senator was assassinated while fighting for democracy, his death triggered the anger of the whole country against the tyranny of the leadership of the late President Ferdinand Marcos. His death inspired people to fight the Marcos regime.

Corazon Aquino took on to the streets to fight for justice for her husband and when the people clamored the she runs for presidency when the snap election was called on February 7, 1986 , she rose to the challenged and became not only the first woman president of the Philippines but also the first woman president of Asia.

In one of the documentaries I watched about Cory, I have learned that Cory was just part of the committee selecting the candidates to represent the opposition to fight Marcos. Don Chino Roces initiated the one million signature campaign to convince Cory to run. My father said, he and my mother were one of those who signed that signature campaign. When I heard that I'm so happy that my parents were politically involved during that time.

Because yellow was the signature color of Cory, Filipinos are asked to wear yellow shirts or yellow ribbons to give honor to two of the most important people in Philippine History.

I'll definitely be wearing my favorite yellow shirt today!

Prayer For A Happy Death by President Corazon Aquino

I heard this prayer being said in one of the television shows giving tribute to President Corazon Aquino.

She had written this prayer even before she got sick with colon cancer.

I like the prayer and so I would like to share it with my fellow blogger.

Prayer For A Happy Death

by President Corazon Aquino

Almighty God, most merciful Father,

You alone know the time,

You alone know the hour,

You alone know the moment when I shall breath my last.

So remind me each day, most loving Father,

to be the best that I can be,

to be humble, to be kind, to be patient, to be true,

to embrace what is good,

to reject what is evil,

to adore only You.

When the final moment does come;

let not my loved one grieve for so long.

And let them know,

how much happiness they have brought into my life.

Let them pray for me,

as I will continue to pray for them.

Hoping that they will always pray for each other.

Let them know that they made possible,

whatever good I offered to our world.

And let them realize that our separation,

is just for a short while,

As we prepare for our reunion in eternity.

Our Father in heaven,

You alone are my hope,

You alone are my salvation,

Thank you for your unconditional love. Amen

President Cory, lived life just like what she said in her prayer. May she served as an example for all of us to live life to the fullest each day. Living our lives the best way we can; expressing our love to the people around us and using every blessing we have received from God to give our glory to our Maker.

Scary Friday

Last Friday, before going to work, I attended the first friday mass. I offered the mass for my father's health.

During the profession of faith, half way through the mass, an old lady to my left about six pews infront of me collapsed. The woman beside me shrieked so loud because she witnessed the fall of the lady. I did not see the incident, I only heard the loud sound of something hitting the ground so hard.

The people nearest to the old woman , rushed to her side and helped her to her sit. The woman whom I presumed to be her companion started panicking because the old lady was still unconcious. The priest asked the congregation if there are doctors or nurses inside the church or if the men can just carry the lady and bring her to the hospital which is just across the church. The man seated at the back of the pew where the old woman was volunteered to carry the lady out of the church.

It was a scary incident and all I could think about was my late lola. She attended the mass all by herself almost every day when she was alive. I'm just grateful that nothing similar happened to her.

It was a slow day at the office that morning.

At around 10:30 am, I received a call from my youngest brother informing me that my father collapsed at home. I feel my knees weakened as I heard the news. All I can think about was what I witness at the church earlier that day.

I immedietely informed my supervisor that I'm going home because my father collapsed and is all alone at our house. I wanted to just snap my finger and be at our house at an instant to check on my dad. I got home after thirty minutes.

It was a good thing that one of our boarders was still at home at the time, because she had an afternoon shift at work, she heard my father calling her name.

According to my dad, he was washing the vegetable he was about to add to the dish he was cooking when he felt dizzy and his vision became blurry. He hold on to the wall and he feel that his knees weakened, and found himself falling slowly to the kitchen floor. But despite that, he still had the presence of mind to turn the stove off because what he was cooking was starting to get burned already and remembered to call one of our boarders to help him.

Maricel, our boarder at home was so shocked to see him on the floor and drenched in cold sweat. Maricel weighs around 115 lbs while my father was about 180 lbs, but despite the difference in their weight, she was able to help him get up and get through the flight of stairs going to the second floor of our house where my father's room is located.

Upon arriving at home, I checked his blood pressure and it read 150/110. My two brothers who worked at Pasig City and the other one at Makati City went home immedietely upon learning of what happened to papa.

My aunt, who is a doctor told us to monitor his blood pressure and advised him to rest. She said that hypertension is one of the side effects of the medicine he is taking right now.

By 2:00 pm, when I checked his blood pressure again, it read 120/90 already.

I'm really grateful, that Maricel was at the house when it all happened because if she was not there, my father might have fallen into unconciousness right there in our kitchen and no one will know what occured at our house. It would be me who will discover it at 6:00 pm when I arrived home from work.

That incident actually made me paranoid. I always want either myself or my brothers to be at papa's side. When I went out last Sunday to watch a movie, I made sure that one of my brothers will stay at home with papa. While watching the movie, my mobile phone beeped; when I checked who it was, it registered my brother's name. I suddenly feel a little nervous, why he was texting, my first taught was, did something bad happened to papa? Well, he was just asking clarifications about papa's medicine.

I know I should stop becoming paranoid because God will always take care and look after papa.

Your Heart Today

Your Heart Today
-Words by Manoling V. Francisco

Where there is fear I can allay

Where there is pain I can heal

Where there are wounds I can bind

And hunger I can fill ,

Lord, grant me courage

Lord, grant me strength

Grant me compassion

That I may beYour heart today.

Where there is hate I can confront

Where there are yokes I can release
Where there are captives I can free
And anger I can appease

Lord, grant me courage

Lord, grant me strength

Grant me compassion

That I may beYour heart today.

When comes the day I dread to see

A broken world compel me

from my cell grow cold

That your people I may behold.

Where there is fear I can allay

Where there is pain I can heal

Where there are wounds I can bind

And hunger I can fill,

Lord, grant me courage

Lord, grant me strength

Grant me compassion

That I may beYour heart today.

And when I’ve done all that I could

But there are hearts I cannot move

Lord, give me hope

That I may beYour heart today.

I used to sing with an all female choir two years ago. Ate Debbie, our choir leader and musical director taught this song to us. She even mentioned that this song was written for the Aquino's.

I've always loved the melody and the lyrics of the song but our choir group rarely sang this song so I was not able to memorize it until I've forgotten a lot of the lines as well as the title of the song.

While watching the funeral mass for President Corazon Aquino, I was hoping that they get to sing this song.

I was so happy to hear it again when Dulce sang it during Communion.

This song was written by Manoling Francisco, nephew of President Cory and he wrote it as a tribute to the many sacrifices the Aquino family did from the time Senator Benigno Aquino was unjustly incarcerated by President Ferdinand Marcos.

A Grateful Heart and the Power of Prayer

Let me start this month with a positive post.
God is good and He graciously hears and answers our prayers!
For all those who prayed for my dad, thank you so much. His creatinine level is now okay and there is no need for a kidney biopsy.
Last Saturday, I was anxiously waiting for the laboratory result to be released, I want to know already whether my dad will be admitted to the hospital or not. My brother called me up at home since he was the one who went to the hospital to claim the result, my heart pounded so hard as I wait to hear the news from him and I was not disappointed. God granted my prayer.
I was in a way expecting that it will be a good result for him.
All throughout the week, I always reflect on Luke 18: 1-8 " The Parable of the Widow and the Judge."
It is about the corrupt judge who does not fear God and respect people and the widow who persevere in asking the judge to grant her the justice she deserved againts her opponent. The judge gave in to her request because the widow kept on begging the judge for a long period of time and never gave up even if the judge refused her a number of time. The judge then said that " I will see to it that she gets her rights. If I don't, she will keep on coming and finally wear me out!" ( Luke 18: 5 )
In the end of the parable, Jesus told his disciples that if the judge who is corrupt did that to the widow, "will God not judge in favor of his own people who cry to him day and night for help, " ( Luke 18: 7 )
I know thatGod granted my prayer because a lot people prayed for him. I asked prayers from family members , friends and even from online friends who I have not met yet offered a few minutes of their time to intercede for my dad.
My special thanks to: Grace, Enchie, Meryl, Juliana, Joy,Rita T, Sheng, Abie, Poetic Shutterbug, Dazediva, Super Mommy to the Rescue, American History. Thank you for your prayers and words of encouragement. God bless you and all of your loved ones.
