Math Tutor

Classes are now full swing here in the Philippines. Most elementary and high school students are most probably done with their first quarter examinations while those in college are most probably finished with their preliminary examinations.

After these examinations, in a few weeks times the progress report card of these students will be handed out by their teachers. This report card will reflect how the students performed in their classes. Those who did well in their classes will be rewarded with high marks but for those who is doing poorly in their classes will get low grades and might be recommended to get their own private tutor.

Most students need help with their math subjects specially those covering college algebra, factoring polynomials and math word problems.

But students and their parents do not need to worry, tutornext.com is their math problem solver. Tutornext.com is available 24/7 to provide quality math tutoring for the student's math homework help or help them prepare for their examinations.

Students may avail of their free math help services and see how tutornext can help with their free homework help.

Corregidor's Malinta Tunnel

Inside one of the laterals

Since yesterday was Quezon City Day, I'll do another post in honor of Manuel L Quezon - President of The Commonwealth Republic of the Philippines and the Founder of Quezon City and the historic Malinta Tunnel.

When the Japanese forces advanced and captured Manila, President Manuel L. Quezon and his family fled to Corregidor Island to evade the enemy.

This island was fortified by the Americans in the early 1990's to be the last standing ground of both the Filipino and American forces in the country. It has many batteries or gun emplacements strategically located all over the island to counter any marine or land attack by foreign invaders.

Malinta Tunnel is bombproof, has blowers that provides fresh air inside the tunnel and has a double line electric car line. It has 13 laterals on the north side and 11 on the south side. It has a 1000 bed hospital. The tunnel served as the headquarters of the United States Armed Forces in the Far East and became the storage facility of the island during the siege of Corregidor.

It became the house of Manuel L. Quezon and his family during his stay in the island and it was outside this tunnel that he made his 2nd term of Oath of Office as President of the Commonwealth together with Vice President Sergio Osmena.

Corregidor was not prepared for the aerial bombardment of the Japanese forces during the war. President Manuel L. Quezon reluctantly fled Corregidor in a submarine to begin his government in exile in New York, USA.

God Whispers

Dear Joy,

There's a huge difference between belief and trust. Many believe in me, but very few actually trust me. Many believe me: That I exist. That I'm GOD. That I'm their Creator. But that's not trust. Even the devil believes all that. But trust means a relationship.

Loving our relationship,
GOD

PS. Trust me more, (Name). Life will be a million times more fun if you do.

August 19 is Quezon City Day

August 19 is Quezon City Day

Republic Act No. 6741 declares August 19 as a special working holiday for the entire Philippines and a special non-working holiday in the provinces of Quezon and Aurora and in Quezon City to commemorate the birth anniversary of the former Philippine President Manuel L. Quezon. RA 6741 was approved on August 4, 1989.

There will be no work tomorrow and classes will not be held for students for those institutions and offices located in the Quezon City area as well as those from the Quezon and Aurora provinces

Manuel Luis Molina Quezon was born in Baler, Tayabas on August 19, 1878 to Lucio Quezon and Maria Dolores Molina. He married Aurora Molina with whom he had three daughters and a son. He finished his Law studies in the University of Santo Tomas and he ranked fourth in the Bar Examination.

He served as a councilor and later on as Governor of Tayabas. Manuel Quezon became an assemblyman, senator and in 1935 as President of The Commonwealth Republic when he defeated former President Emilio Aguinaldo and Religious Leader Gregorio Aglipay in the elections.

Some of his accomplishments as President of The Commonwealth were:

He worked with High Commisioner Paul V. McNutt to speed up the entry of the Jews to the Philippines who at the time were fleeing from the Nazis. Manuel Quezon established a community for Jews in Minadanao. Before his presidency the positions at the Supreme Court were all held by American Justices, under his leadership, he made sure that the Supreme Court were manned by Filipino Justices. Manuel Quezon tasked General Douglas MacArthur as Field Marshal of the Philippines to oversee the National Defense of the Philippines. In 1936, Manuel Quezon signed Executive Order No . 23 - the official specifications of the Flag of the Philippines. Manuel Quezon in 1937 formed a commission tasked to study the dialects of the Philippines in order to come up with the national language of the Philippines - Tagalog became the official language of the Philippines. On October 12, 1939, he signed Batas Commonwealth 502 which aimed to establish a city outside of Manila which became the capital of the Philippines and was named after him - Quezon City.

When the Pacific War broke out in December 8, 1941, Luzon fled to Corrugators and in front of Melinda Tunnel in Corregidor on December 30, 1941 took his oath as President of the Commonwealth for the second term. When the Japanese forces advanced towards Corregidor, the President against his will fled to Visayas then to Mindanao and finally to the United States of America where he continued his government in exile.

He died in Saranak, New York in August 1, 1944 due to tubercolosis.

Birthday Gift

Last Friday was my father's birthday. My family and I were all surprised when my aunt, my father's sister gave an expensive 32" LCD Flat Television for my father! My aunt is really generous.

I hope I can also shower my father with expensive gifts too in the future. Not that my father is materialistic but because I want to let him know that I appreciate everything that he has done for us and that I love him very much.

If I only have the money, I would love to buy my father a new car. We have an owner type jeepney but because my father has problems with his left leg he can no longer drive this manual type of car. I wish I can afford to buy him an automatic car so he can drive again.

My father's license was to expire last Friday on his birthday and I really insisted that he had it renewed. He had reservation about his driver's renewal because he might not need it anymore because he can't drive his owner type jeep but I told him that it's not impossible for us to buy an automatic car in the future so his driver's license will come in handy and that he can drive again; so the driver's license was renewed last Friday.

I hope I can save up for an automatic car and I even wish that I can buy him an expensive car like a Chevrolet Silverado . Ryo's First Jolly Birthday!

After my father's birthday last Friday, I get to attend another birthday celebration the following day, the 1st Birthday party of my nephew and godson, Ryo!

He had a Transformers theme party at Jollibee West Avenue, Quezon City.

The last time I saw Ryo was during his christening last January and now he's one year old already. My godson is well-behaved and always have a big smile on his face. He's such one jolly birthday.

I was asked to lead the prayer before the party started and I prayed that he will grow up to be a god-fearing, loving and obedient boy.

I enjoyed the birthday celebration not only because of my special participation in leading the prayer but also because I won in two contests. The first is the bring me contest where I assisted my nephew Ken in bringing the requested item and the other one is in the adult contest boys versus girls; of course the girls won! I gave both my prizes to my nephews Ken and Zak.

We had chicken joy, spaghetti, burgers and sundaes and because there are some guests who were not able to attend we can have a double round of these Jollibee treats.

I love children's party! and I love it that I get to see my relatives from my mother's side whom I have not seen for months.

Something To Inspire

"Be tranquil as far your soul is concerned. Confide totally, more and more in Jesus. Make an effort to unite yourself always and in everything to Divine Will, both in happy and sad events, and do not worry about the future."

Happy Birthday Papa!

This is such a late post but still I want to greet my father a "Happy Birthday!"

It was my dad's special day last Friday, the 13th of August.

His day started with hearing mass at St. Joseph's Shrine after which he went to the Land Transportation Office to have his driver's license renewed. The service at LTO was such a breeze that he had his license renewal in less than an hour. When he went back home a surprise was waiting for him a package was delivered by LBC. It was my aunt's gift for my dad a Lacoste Polo Shirt and a Marks and Spencer board shorts. My father was super pleased with his gifts.

We had a simple dinner of Lechon Manok, Ice Cream and Cake to celebrate his special day.

But my dad's biggest gift came later in the evening, when my cousin in law brought another gift from my aunt, my father's sister - she gifted my father with a Sanyo 32" inch LCD Flat TV. My tita is super generous, she said she had a lot of patients (she's a doctor) this month so she wanted to share her blessings my buying this TV and giving it as a gift for my dad.

My father was happy with his gifts but most of all thankful for another year of life.

Bedroom Furniture

The bed in our house master's bedroom is one of the last furniture pieces bought by my mother before she passed away. The bed has been with us for fourteen years ( the mattress has been changed several times) and it has sentimental value because it was picked by my mom. But it has been in a not so good state with some of the varnish paint peeling off that I think it has to be changed into a new one.

I was looking for affordable and quality beds that might replace the old one that my father is currently using. And it was really hard to look for beds not because there wasn't enough good products but because there are a lot of lovely pieces to choose from.

I'm particularly eyeing on some rustic king beds because they look very comfortable and invites everyone who sees it to just lie down either to relax or to go to dreamland. :) The rustic beds look really homey and invoked the feeling of warmness.

But choosing any one of this rustic beds make me want to buy not only the bed but also other rustic bedroom furniture like bedroom dresser, bedroom night stand and a rustic chair to complete the rustic look. It would make the room feel so much like the countryside.

Enough with this daydreaming, I must consult my father first if ever he's willing to depart with his favorite bed or will just have it repaired.

God Whispers

I can't stop talking about how wonderful you are. (My angels are used to Me by now when I start mentioning your name again...) I believe in you, Joy.

PS. I believe in your greatness, Joy. More than you can imagine.

Busy Being Healthy

I'm spending less time in the cyberspace now a days. I haven't been out of our house for quite some time. My daily routine is office - house and church on weekends and occassional trips to the grocery or to the wet market.

I'm making more "me time"- reading books, reflecting on things, eating healthy and getting enough sleep.

I just need to detach myself from things that are preoccupying me at the moment.

I realized that I'm giving so much of myself taking care of my family and friends that I forget that I need to take care of myself too.

I needed this "me time" because more than anyone I should be the one that should give more love and attention to myself.

I'm taking the time off to recharge not only my physical body but my spirit and soul as well. I need this to be healthy.

New Badge

Happy Monday everyone!

This will be my first post for the new month. :)

I know I haven't been writing a lot in this blog and that is because I'm busy working on my other blog. My other blog is turning three months this August and hasn't received a lot of tweeks. It's only last Saturday that I was able to customized the widget and put up a shout box for those instant messages.

It was a good thing that I was able to change the widget because the generic widget do not encourage visitors to visit my site when they see the black and white badge. From the measly 15 entrecard droppers daily - I have 40 visitors last Sunday checking out the site because of the new entrecard widget.

I'm thinking of having the layout of this blog change because I have this blog look for ages already. Does altering the page layout of the blog affects the page rank?

I hope I'll be able to generate more writing assignments this month.

Wishing you all a happy and blessed new month!
