Web Hosting Blog

I know I have been for the longest time have been planning on getting a new domain name and transferring this blog on paid web hosting. But up to this time I still haven't had enough time to do my research and examine the pros and cons of moving this blog to a paid web hosting service provider.

A lot of bloggers like me who are on free blog hosting sites are also in the same dilemma.

I must admit that I do not know a lot of things about web hosting. I do not know what are the criteria I must look for in a web hosting provider. Of course, the price of the web hosting service is a big consideration on my part. But with the price, I don't want to try a cheap web hosting provider and regret the quality of service they can provide at that small rate.

I worry also that transferring to a new webhosting provider and getting a new domain name may affect my current google page rank. My page rank of 3, although not that high is able to give some writing assignments. I know that once I've made the change in domain name and web hosting my page rank will suffer and I have to wait for months before google gives me a decent rank.

For confused bloggers like me who are contemplating on transferring to paid web hosting and needs more information on this topic, there's a web hosting news blog called the webhostingfan. This blog features the newest trends in web hosting, a review of the best web hosting providers available in the net today and all the news and information you want about web hosting.

So visit webhostingfan.com and learn more about web hosting.

Quiet Saturday

Another quiet Saturday with just me and my father.

My brother Paul is on a company outing at Punta Fuego in Batangas. I was begging him if I could come but it is strictly a company affair. I would love to be visiting a new place. I have been going places since April discovering new sites but I was not able to go to a new destination this month because I became sick. But still, I'm happy that I was able to go see an exhibit this June. It was the highlight of the month plus our Father's Day Celebration.

Dan, my youngest brother is on a Computer Game Tournament. If you're familiar with the KOS game, he's competing at the moment. He is on his fifth final game today and I hope he wins. He won the last three competition.

Can't wait for them to come home so I could hear there stories - Paul with his company outing and Dan with his competition.

My New Mp3

I bought a mp3. Nothing fancy, it's not even branded. I bought it because the heavy traffic commuting to and from the office is eating most of my time and I always find myself getting annoyed about it. The mp3 is something to relax me while I'm on public transportation.

It has about one hundred thirty songs at the moment and it's all praise and worship songs.

The songs have uplifted my mood every morning and it's a great way to start the day being assured of God's great love for me. I even play it in the office when I became bored with the normal boring office routine. And hearing those songs at the end of the day made me feel victorious, calm and relax.

It is a great blessing for me.

Computer Techie

I must admit I'm not a computer techie. Whenever, I encounter problems or errors in the computer, I quickly enlist the help of my boyfriend because he's very knowledgeable when it comes with computers, may it be the hardware or the software.

There's so much about computer that I do not know about.

One of the things, I'm encoutering problems lately are with file downloads specially those that involves large files. I always find my download being freeze and there's ton on registry error popping out. I end up not having those file being downloaded.

Some of the registry errors that I encountered was " Cannot open .PART, or .CVK or .PVM, or .SVG files on windows?"

I was told that these errors happened because either that file extension is damage or I need to know which program I need to use in order to open it.

PART file extension is associated with "partial downloading". What the download manager does is to store all the file extension with .part file and then assemble it later when the download is complete.CWK file extension is an apple work extension associate with the file ClarisWork. The .PVM extension is a two different file format from one another while the .SVG or scalable vector graphics is a file used for two dimensional graphics and graphical applications.

If you're having problems with your downloads or with any of the above file extensions were the errors that you encounter than let Regtask scan your computer now.

Once you register with Regtask, the Regtask will then scan your computer and then prompt you to fix the errors. When these errors are fixed your computer will now speed up and will no longer encounter any problem with downloading.

God's Whispers

Our Father's Day Treat

Last Saturday, my family and I had dinner in Trinoma to celebrate "Father's Day." We celebrated it a day in advance to avoid the crowd celebrating this occassion on its actual day.

My family had dinner at "Kamay Kainan." It's a buffet treat which is at P249.00 per pax.

We were not satisfied with the buffet fare because almost all of the dishes served up is literally swimming in oil, very unhealthy. The food that makes up the buffet are everyday dishes served at our house, nothing spectacular. Plus, if you have a good cook like my dad, the taste of the dishes served pale in comparison to the meals whipped up by my dad.

Anyway, despite the not so good food we still enjoyed the night because we have each others company.

On Sunday, we had take out dinner from Max's, my father's favorite. He had all the chicken servings he wanted because it was his day.

To my Papa, Happy Father's Day! Thank you for being a father and a mother for us for the last fourteen years. I love You!

War of Our Fathers

There's an ongoing exhibit at the Interior Exhibit Hall at the Interior Zone of SM North EDSA until June 23,2010. The exhibit entitled " War of Our Fathers," is sponsored by the Philippine Veterans Bank.

My brother and I were fortunate enough to get to see it last Saturday, June 19,2010 and learned something more about that period in our History.

The exhibit features pictures taken during the World War II and some war memorabilia on display. The pictures depict the horrifying pictures of the atrocities committed during the war, the extensive damage it cost to lives and properties throughout the archipelego and the heroism of the Filipino people.

machine gun bullet rounds
mortar shells

It is indeed an exhibit that is a tribute to the Filipino freedom fighters.

My Healing Book

Inspirational books is one of my favorite genres of book. I loved to read the books of Max Lucado, Joel Osteen and Bo Sanchez. Their books remind me of how much God loves me and his great desire to bless my life.

When I became sick, I sought out healing books because more than physical healing, I also need spiritual healing. It was hard for me to be sick because all my life, I was the caregiver and not the patient. I was the one who took care of my mom when she got sick of breast cancer and I was the one who look after my dad during his dialysis and kidney transplantation. I want to be the strong one because I need to be the one to look after my lovedones.

I don't have to look far to get these books, because in our bookshelf are many books on healings given as gifts to my parents when they became gravely ill.

The one I'm reading right now is "Healing Prayer," by Barbara Leahy Shlemon

The author is a former nurse who is now into the healing ministry. It thought me how to pray for healing based on the different scriptural teachings on healing and prayer.

I'm so much blessed to have read this book!

Much Gratitude

I'm so grateful that I have so many supportive people in my life. They made me bear my illnesses lightly. I know a lot of people will say that GERD isn't bad at all like cancer. But still, GERD brought me to depression because I wasn't sleeping for two weeks. The lack of sleep took a toil on my physical, mental and emotional state. And I have to thank so many people for assuring me and praying for me.

I have to thank my family especially my dad. He would patiently comfort me in the middle of the night when I wasn't able to sleep. He wouldn't mind waking up so many times to reassure me that everything will be alright. My brother Paul is liked my dad too. He would pray over me and assisted me like arranging my bed to the elevated position that it needs to be.

My boyfriend, the ever patient man he is never gets tired of listening to my complain and who offered to be my caregiver if there is the need for hospital confinement.

My friends from work and even from the blogosphere and my relatives offered prayers and words of encouragement for me. And that prayer power made me snap out of my negative thoughts and brought me to my way of recovery.

God Whispers Today

My God Whispers for today is:

Dear Joy,

No one can insult you. Without your permission, their stinging words won't touch you. Be still and know that I am God.

Your shield,

God

PS. Heroes today were the heretics of yesterday. Keep doing what's right, Joy.

Insurance Protection

It's tough being sick. You are not only physically and emotionally drained but mentally stress as well.

Mentally stress because you have to think not only of getting well but also on how you're going to pay for your check-ups, medicines and worse for hospital confinement.

I've experienced this mental stress last week when I bought my medicine which was really costly. Good thing though, I have some extra cash from the blogging money.

But my blogging money is not enough to pay for some unfortunate incidents like accident and illness or retrenchment that may happen in the future.

I know that to prepare for those events I must get myself an insurance.

There are many types of insurances available today. But I think the ones that would be useful for me would be the: income insurance protection, accident and illness insurance and the affordable life insurance.

Real Insurance provides affordable life insurance that will protect and cover a wide variety of your needs may it be a family life cover that will provide for your family in the event of your death, a funeral expenses cover to pay for your funeral, an accident and illness insurance and a silver life cover for those in their 50's.

Their insurance cover starts at only $1.46 per week. So there's no excuse not to get their insurance because it is light on the budget but the benefits of an insurance is really great.

Now you can sleep restfully at night knowing that whatever happen to you, you have money to pay for your sickness or accident and in the event of your death, you know you can still provide for the needs of your family even if you are not around.

To prepare for your future, invest on quality life insurance.

GERD and the Lifestyle Change

I've always been a healthy person. I've never been hospitalized and never been sick for more than two days. I don't smoke and I seldom drink alcoholic beverages. I sleep on time and don't skip my three meals.

I was in shock to discover that now I'm struck with Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease or Acid Reflux because it's a chronic disorder (please see post below or click this link ).

Being sick with GERD brought about a lot of lifestyle change. First, is in my diet - I have to avoid acidic food. This means I have to say goodbye to : fried foods, fatty foods, spicy foods, pasta with tomato based sauces, tomatoes and other sour fruits like grapes and kiwis, whole milk dairy products like cheeses which I super love, mayonnaise and CHOCOLATES! This is the major sacrifice I have to go through because the above mentioned foods are what I liked the most. :( But, knowing how much hard it was to breathe and to sleep the past few days, I can proudly say I don't crave for them at all. I just need to find other alkaline foods that I'll enjoy eating.

Second is my sleeping habits - I can sleep only after two to three hours of eating so that means no more late night snacking for me.And I just love to take an afternoon nap so that means I have to do it on a chair if I'm too sleepy to wait for two hours. I always lie flat on my back when I sleep which is something I have to avoid to prevent the stomach liquid from regurgitating to my esophagus. I now sleep with the head part of my bed eight inches elevated. It's not the most comfortable sleeping position but I know I'll get used to it.

Third is I have to avoid stress to prevent hyperacidity which will trigger my GERD.

Fourth is my eating habit - no more hurried meals for me. I have to chew my food slowly and thoroughly. I have to say goodbye to fastfood too because what they offer are fried and greasy food which is a big no no for someone with GERD like me.

But when you think about it, these changes are beneficial for my health. Most of the food I have to avoid are unhealthy in the first place. And stress is not good for the body whether we have GERD or not. Adapting these lifestyle changes is not that bad at all.

I'm Back

It has been a week since my last post. I wanted to write here in my blog but my strength failed me. I was always out of breath as if something is pressing hard on my chest, there's a constant lump in my throat and I couldn't sleep very well because I would be awaken many times during the night breathing heavily.

At first I thought I was having heart problems and insomnia but it turned out I have Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease GERD or Acid Reflux.

GERD is a disorder wherein the liquid content of the stomach refluxes or goes back into the esophagus.

I'm currently on medication but unfortunately I have to change my eating, sleeping and other lifestyle habits to prevent similar incidents from happening because GERD is a chronic disorder.
To Sunshine, thank you for your message on my facebook and to Grace, I have a wonderful time chatting with you through YM. Cheers to blogosphere friends.

Inspirational Message

Last week was a very difficult week for me. I was physically exhausted, mentally drained and emotionally depressed. But I've found my spiritual strength for this new week from my daily devotional email.

When Are You Getting Married?

I'm thirty one, single but in a relationship and I don't get it why my relatives and other nosy people have to ask often why I'm not yet married? As if that is not enough they would give me a litany of reasons why I should be married and should start having babies.

I know that most of those who asked means well but it gets so tiring having to explain why I'm not yet married.

I don't know why there is that extra pressure to be married and have kids once you hit thirties?

I don't want to marry in a rush just because people expects me to be settled at a certain age. People get married because they are financially, emotionally and mentally stable to get into that lifelong commitment.

Although, I'm not looking for a lifetime partner because who I am with is the one I want to spend the rest of my life, there's still areas in our lives that needs to be fixed first before we embark on our journey together.

So for the meantime please stop asking when I'm going to be married.

Shrek Forever After

Last weekend, my boyfriend and I were supposed to watch "Prince of Persia," but on the last minute I changed my mind and told him if we could just see "Shrek Forever After," and he agreed.

I have to thank Grace because she gave a good review about the movie in her blog and that convinced me to see the movie.

Anyway, I just want to de stress and to have a laugh so Shrek 4 is the perfect flick to see.

Shrek was becoming tired and getting frustrated about his perfect yet boring life with Fiona and their three ogre babies. He longed for the good old days when people feared him and don't bother him in his swamp. During his children's first birthday party, he had a sudden outburst witness by his family and friends. Fiona told Shrek that he had everything that he wanted but he couldn't see it. Shrek in his discontentment walked out of the party into the woods where he met Rampulstilken-the magic deal maker. Rampulstilskin holds a grudge against Shrek because King Harold and Queen Lilian (Fiona's parents) were supposed to sign a contract with Rampulstilskin stating that they will turn over the Kingdom of Far,Far Away in exchange for Fiona being freed from the curse but that didn't happened because Shrek saved Fiona.

Rampulstilskin offered Shrek a one day deal where he could go back to being the feared ogre he once was for a day in exchange for a day in Shrek's childhood. Shrek signed the contract, without knowing that it was the day he was born that will be taken away from him. The deal was signed and Shrek found himself being feared by the villagers just like before and he was extremely happy. What he didn't know was that since he wasn't been born, there's no one to free Fiona from the curse; so King Harold and Queen Lilian signed their magical deal with Rampulstilkin and the kingdom of Far,Far Away became under the authority of Rampulstilskin. If Shrek does not break the contract curse by the end of 24 hours, he will disappear forever together with his family and the future of Far,Far Away.

The movie reminded me to appreciate the people in my life and be content with what I have while working for the things I want to achieve in my life as the old saying goes " You never know what you've got until you lose it."

The downside of the movie was that I find it too short and there were only a few funny moments. I found the humor more intended for the adult viewers than for children.

My New Blog

Finally, after almost two days of trying to figure out how to change my new site's url to its new domain name, I was able to do it!

There was no problem with following blogspot's instruction for publishing because it was really easy, the error came from the domain name provider because their instructions were not clear. I try to google the answer to my problem but google's instructions were different and not applicable to my own domain name provider. Good thing though that my persistence brought me to read more blogs and my answer came from a comment left on a blog that I've read. I was apprehensive to try it at first but I gave it a shot and voila the problem was solved!

The problem as I've explained in my previous post was that when I typed my blog's name on the address bar with the www before it- I am directed to my blog but when it's only my naked domain name it landed on another page. Now that I have solved this problem, I'm now thinking on ways on how to drive traffic to my new blog, would getting the services of a seo company helps?

Anyway, that's behind me now because everything is okay now.

My new blog is "Happy and Healthy Me." It's a blog that offers tips and information on happy and healthy living and at the same time chronicles my journey to becoming more fit and healthy.

Please visit my new site and add it up to your links! :)

Figuring How This Thing Works

Yay! Spent the whole afternoon trying to figure out how to change my new blog's url to my own domain name.

It was a major headache because everytime I typed the address with a www it landed on my blog but when if its only the domain name without www I am directed to another page with this message:

this domain name has just been registered, Why is this page displayed?

when I click "why is this page displayed?" , it says that this page was displayed because I have not replaced the temporary web page created for me.

I guess I need to rest my mind first and try deciphering this problem later on. I really want to finish this task because I want to share my new blog.
