Home Workout

Having a gym membership is a great start to being fit but religiously going to the gym for the workout is another story. A lot of people can't seem to find the time to commute and go to the gym for their needed exercise. So for busy people who want to squeeze in a few minutes of exercise; doing workouts at the comfort of their own homes is the most feasible thing to do. Aside from saving on time, doing workouts at home can save you money too with gym membership fees costing an arm and a leg.

But the dilemma for those who choose to do their workouts at home is finding the right program needed to achieve their fitness goal; this they have to do because there’s no personal trainer around to design their fitness program. If you want to lose weight and have that wonderful butt of Victoria Secret Model Alessandra Ambrosia then you should try the Brazilian Butt Lift Workout. According to the Brazil Butt Lift reviews, this workout incorporates the Brazilian martial art Capoera, ballet, cardio exercises and dance into the routine. I surely want to try this workout because I want to learn a little of capoera plus with the dance routine I’m sure this is not one boring workout.

If capoera and ballet is not your cup of tea then you might want to give P90X workout a try. This three months program combines resistance training, pylometrics, yoga, kenpo, and stretching and cardio exercises. This is another interesting workout because of the variety of exercises incorporated to the program. To know more about this amazing workout guaranteed to help you lose weight, tone and be in shape you may want to check out the P90X reviews and see for yourself if this is the program you need for your home workout.

Staying in shape and being healthy is a commitment we should give our bodies. No matter how busy our schedule can become we should not neglect our health and sacrifice our time for exercise. Being in our ideal weight is important to keep diseases away and will definitely improve our physical well-being.

A Healthy Weekend

A Healthy Weekend

For the past Saturdays, I have been undergoing acupuncture treatments at a clinic in Quezon City.

Ever since, I tried this alternative form of medicine my energy level has markedly improved as well as my digestion. It has also lowered my stress.I always go home from treatment relax and recharged.

But for next Saturday, I did not reserve for a slot with my acupuncture clinician because I signed up for the Qigong classes also at the same clinic.

Qigong classes incorporate meditation and breathing exercises. It aims to quiet the mind and to release fear, worries and other negative energy.

I know that most of the maladies I’m experiencing right now is because of my stress. I feel that a lot of things in my life are out of control and I’m constantly worried and frustrated. I really need to quiet my mind and that’s the reason I’ll have Qigong classes.

I’m so excited for next Saturday!

After my acupuncture, I together with my friend went to the barangay hall in our community. Anlene Milk is sponsoring a free bone scan on the constituents of our barangay.

Aside from the free bone scan, there’s a consultation with an Anlene representative about the result of the test as well as free taste of Anlene milk. Anlene milk products are being sold too at discounted prices.

Because I take calcium supplement every day, my bone scan result revealed that I’m at a low risk of developing osteoporosis. Yehey ! for the good habit of taking calcium.

And then on Sunday, my brother and I continued with our brisk walking every Sunday morning. We increased our brisk walking session from thirty minutes the previous week to an hour this week.

My diet for the past weekend consisted of chicken and a lots of vegetables.

I’m so happy sticking to my healthy diet and regimen.

My Typhoon Ondoy Story - The Long Walk Home

Everyone I know has a Typhoon Ondoy story. The great flood that accompanied Typhoon Ondoy last year will forever be etched in the minds of those who have experience the fury of this typhoon.

Let us take some time to pray for those who perished in the typhoon last year and also to pray that no similar destructive flood will occur in the future.

Let me re-publish my post on my personal experience on Typhoon Ondoy last year.

The Long Walk Home

Because I knew that there was a tropical storm hitting Metro Manila ,I was hesitant to leave our house yesterday to attend the meeting at our office in Rosario, Pasig . But when the heavy downpour of rain turned to drizzle early in the morning, I decided to proceed to our office.

When I reached our office at 8:30 am, the rain started pouring heavily again. At around 10:00 am, my brother Paul called me up on my mobile phone informing me that the areas near our house was submerged in rain water and that our garage had water already. Alarmed because this was the first time this happened to our place, I asked permission from our supervisor if I could leave so that I can help my brother and father to secure our things that might be wet by the flood.

I was standing for almost an hour along Ortigas Extension,Pasig and there were no public transportations plying that route. A lot of people were stranded in the rain waiting for a ride home to pass by just like me. A stranger approached me and asked me where I was going and I told her I'm going to Cubao, Quezon City to get a ride to our place in Quirino District. She told me that she was on her way to Cubao when the jeepney she was riding on decided to go back to Ortigas Extension because the area along Green Meadows on E. Rodriguez, Libis is flooded. All the vehicles in that area were all in a halt.

Her news alarmed me because I can no longer proceed to my destination because there were no transportation available to where I was going.

I called my youngest brother Dan who worked near where I was if I could meet up with him because I can't go home because of the flood. He said there work were already cancelled and that he'll pick me up at Jollibee-Rosario. It was lunch time already when I was able to contact him so I decided to eat my lunch at Jollibee while waiting for him.

It was already 1:00 pm when my brother pick me up because he had to wade through flood waters because there office warehouse was submerged in flood.

The rain did not stop from pouring so there's no way the flood water will go down that will make it possible for public transportation vehicles to take passengers to their destination. My brother and I decided that if we want to go home we had no other choice but to walk through the rain and wade through the floods. We knew that if the rain will not stop the flood water will continue to rise and that will make it more difficult to go home.

We place all our valuables inside a plastic and then put it inside our bags so that it will not be wet by the rain; and started on our long walk home.

From Ortigas Extension we transversed E Amang Rodriguez Avenue and waded through ankle deep flood. As we go further down the avenue, we had to walk through thigh deep flood and there were no dry area in sight. I hold on to my brother because the water current is so strong. We walk slowly and carefully because we cannot see some of the road we are stepping on. A lot of people were walking too and wading through the floods. I don't know how long E. Amang Rodriguez Avenue is going to Marcos Highway.

But despite the rain and the flood, my brother and I never complained along the way. We even sang some songs to amuse ourselves.

After walking for an hour we reached Marcos Highway drenched in the rain. We were hoping that we could catch a truck that will take us to Aurora Boulevard but we were not lucky to catch one that is not full with people. We had no choice but to walk again through flood water until Santolan. When we reached the area near SM Marikina, we could see that the basement parking lot of the mall was flooded already, the Marcos bridge where we were, the water below it is just a few meters before it could reached the bridge. The water along the Marikina River has spilled to the nearby areas, the Riverbank Mall was submerged in flood water, it looks like a vast ocean was in front of me.

This leg of the trip was the hardest for my brother and I, our hearts were broken to see the people below the bridge where we were. There were already on the roofs of their houses asking to be rescued. We saw one family with children with no clothes on, they were on a make shift floating device holding on to a rope that will bring them to safety. A lot of people were on the bridge, soaked in the rain, waiting for their other family members trapped in floods more than ten feet high to be rescued and brought to the bridge.

When we reached Aurora Boulevard and turned towards J.P Rizal, my brother and I were on high spirits already, a few meters more and we are home at last after more than two hours of walking. But turning towards Anonas Street, we were disappointed to learn that the water there was almost six feet high. The soldiers assisting anyone who want to cross through Anonas by holding through a rope are available if you want to proceed. But a man coming from the other side warned us not to continue even if there was a rope because the current is really strong in the middle, we might be swept away by the water.

We went to one of the shops where I go to every time I reload my cell phone and asked permission if we could stay there till the water along Anonas subside. She was kind enough to let us stay inside the shop. I was then able to make phone calls to our house and asked how they were. We were grateful that our house was not submerged in flood and the phone lines were not cut, although there were no electricity in our area already. We then told them that my brother and I were safe and that we will wait for the water to go down before we go home.

It was already 5:00 pm and the water was still high, my brother and I were both feeling cold already because of our wet clothing. I was starting to worry because it will be dark soon and we were not yet home. I knew if the water won't go down we have no choice but to stay where we were or transfer at the nearby St. Joseph's Church.

Because I was anticipating that the flood water will continue to submerge our area till late in the night, I went to a nearby small department store and bought clothes and underwear that my brother and I can change into because we were both chilling already.

By 6:30 pm, we were informed that the water in Anonas were up to waist deep only so my brother and I waste no time and hurriedly went to Anonas. When we passed through Anonas and into Marang Street, my brother and I were so happy that we were near home. A few more steps and we were at house in Durian Street and we couldn't be more happier.

I am so grateful that we came home safe and that I have my brother with me during that very hard travel home. He was the perfect companion, never complaining and he made me feel safe.

KFC's California Maki Twister

I've finally had the chance to try KFC's California Maki Twister when I ordered take-out dinner from KFC last Friday.

This latest KFC Twister is my favorite. I love how the chicken, cucumber, mangoes, Japanese mayo in a tortilla wrap blends well together. It really tasted like the California Maki one can eat from Japanese restaurants.

California Maki Twister is sold at P75 for ala carte and P98 for the combo meal.

KFC is offering California Maki Twister for a limited time so rush over to KFC and give it try.

Writing Assignments and Neobux

Paid writing opportunities are very rare for this blog for the past three months. So, I'm really happy that I have one writing assignment waiting for me when I opened my email. I'm saving all my blogging money for the last quarter of the year and I intend to invest it all in my mutual fund this coming December. I'm keeping my fingers cross that I'll reach a hundred dollar. I'm only $39 short of my goal. When I'm done with this paid post I only need $29 to complete my $100.00

Aside from this writing assignment, I was so surprised to discover that someone click my neobux banner, I now have a direct referral under me. I have this widget on for a year already and this is the first time I have a direct referral. This means I'll have two cents for every 4 clicks he/she made. I know that is isn't much but it's still money in my neobux account.

Neobux is a pay per click site. You get paid for every advertisements you click in their site. I've already made $25 from this site and I requested for a $12 pay out last Saturday and I already received the money on the same day.

So if you want to earn through neobux, just click my banner on the upper right part of my blog.

One day, you'll see the various events of your life—even the most painful ones—with new eyes. They will be like jigsaw pieces that now all fit together. The most difficult moments of your life are the lovely shadows that now make the painting of your life utterly magnificent. Joy, I will turn your mourning into joy, your sorrow into dancing. That's a promise.
Promise Keeper,God,

PS. Sometimes, you don't understand, Joy. That's okay. I don't call you to understand. I call you to trust Me.

Glee's Season 2

Yey! I was able to finally finish all the episodes of Glee's season 1 yesterday; just in time for the airing of season 2 this coming Wednesday at 9:00 pm over at ETC Channel.

My siblings and I super love this show and we would watch the DVD together. I enjoyed most of the songs featured in season 1 and I can't wait for the songs that they will be singing for the new season.

Of course, I'm looking forward to the different twist and turn that is about to happen with the different characters in season 2. Will Rachel and Finn stay as a couple for long? Will Quinn and Puck get back together or will Quinn end with Finn again? Will Mr. Shuester has a second chance with Ms. Pilsburry or will Teri win her ex husband back? and the big question is what will be the new scheme Ms. Sylvester has against Mr. Will Shuester?

Wheew, so many questions that need to be answered! So Wednesday night from now on will be Glee Night and I don't want to be disturbed. :)

Walking On A Sunday

I used to run at the Marikina Oval Track and Fields or at the Quezon City Circle every Sunday and around our vicinity almost every day at the start of the year. One of my New Year's Resolution was to be more physically fit and to be able to finish a 5 kilometer run by the end of the year.

But all preparations for that goal had to stop because I became ill and things became so much stressful.

I love running and I'll still have to wait and see if I could go back to this favorite activity of mine.

When I stop running, I also stop all forms of exercise so I know that my body badly needs to exercise. And because I wanted to take things slowly but surely I asked my brother if he could be my walking partner.

My brother and I woke up at 6:00 am and decided to walk around our neighborhood and at a nearby village for exercise. I was so excited to take out and wear my running shoes again even if all I'm going to do is brisk walking.

It just feels so good to exercise because you know that you're doing something good for your body and as you sweat you know that your skin is excreting all those toxins from your body.

It has been a while too since I've visited the village near our place. There are a lot of beautiful houses up for sale. One of the houses I like best is the one with a zen garden in front of the house. It is so pretty. I'm not planning to buy a house but I'm curious about how much it cost. I should ask the realtor for his realtor business card and asked about the house.

After walking, we headed to the local bakery store for some hot pandesal for breakfast.

Saint Pio's Chapel in Libis

I have read numerous blogs about Saint Pio's Chapel in Libis, Quezon City. I've learned that its chapel houses some relics of Saint Pio. A lot of Saint Pio devotees visit this site to ask for his intercession. I was able to visit this center last August 19.

Saint Pio of Pietrelcina or Padre Pio is a Capuchin monk who was given the gift of stigmata or the wounds of our Lord Jesus Christ. He was born in 1887 in Pietrelcina, Italy and lived out his priestly life in the monastery of San Giovanni Rotondo. A lot of people visited him when he was still alive to have their confession and to ask for his prayers and through him many received conversion and the miracles they desperately need. He died on September 23, 1968.

The chapel of Saint Pio is beautiful and despite being in the heart of the busy business district of Libis, it's very peaceful inside the chapel as if all the noise in the world has been shut off.

I was not able to get pictures inside the chapel because I don't want to disturb the devotees who are deep in prayers.

Some of the relics on display at the chapel was the gloves of Saint Pio which he used to hide the wounds in his palms, his capuchin habit and the tissue used to wrap his gloves when it was transported from Italy to the Philippines.

There's a big statue of the Saint Pio on the right side of the altar which has the most loving eyes I've ever seen. In front of the statue is a pew where you can kneel, pray and write down your prayer requests. On the left side of the altar is a portrait of Our Lady of Grace similar to Saint Pio's favorite painting of our Lady at San Giovanni Rotondo.

On one side of the wall of the chapel you will see the framed testimonies of people whose prayers were answered through the intercession of Saint Pio. I was able to read Christine Bersola-Babao's testimony about her answered prayer when she prayed for a new baby and Julia Gomez (Lucy Torres' mom) testimony about her healing from cancer.

Aside from the chapel, the center houses a separate candle room, a souvenir shop, an aviary and angel garden and an outdoor patio with tables and chairs.

There's a daily mass at the chapel at 5:00 pm and on Sundays there's a 10:00 am, 12:15 pm, 5:00 pm and a 7:00 pm mass. Novena prayers and Rosary are recited before the mass.

Saint Pio's Chapel is good place to pray, to reflect and to take some time off from the busyness of our day to day lives.

How To Get To Saint Pio's Chapel in Libis

This beautiful chapel is located at the busy business district of Libis, Quezon City. The facade of the chapel is similar to the church in San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy where Saint Pio of Pietrelcina served as a Capuchin monk.

If you're going to access public transportation on your way to Saint Pio's chapel all you have to do is ride a jeepney with a Rosario signage infront of Ali Mall in Araneta Center in Cubao,Quezon City. Just tell the driver that you're going to alight at Citibank and your travel will be smooth. The chapel is located in between Citibank and Honda Center. You will not missed Citibank because a number of passengers get off in that area too. Since Citibank is on the opposite side if you're traveling towards Pasig, use the footbridge to get to the other side. Walk towards the Honda Center and before you reached it, there a big picture of Saint Pio infront of the chapel's compound.

For those with their own vehicles, Saint Pio chapel is located at E.Rodriguez Jr. Avenue or in C-5. The landmarks to watch out for if you're coming from Cubao going to Pasig is Mercury Drug's office, a few meters from there is Citibank but you have to look for the U-turn slot right after Honda Center because it's at the opposite side. If you're coming from Pasig going to Quezon City, just watch out for Shopwise, then Honda Center, the chapel is right after the Honda Center.

There's a big picture of Saint Pio infront of the chapel's compound so you will not missed it.

UAAP'S CHEERDANCE COMPETITION 2010

Cheer dance is one of the competitions I always look forward to watching at the University Athletics Association of the Philippines or UAAP. And because I am a Thomasian - I root for the University of Santo Tomas.

UST was consistently in the running for the awards but sadly last year they were not able to place and win so I'm a little more excited to see if this year they will perform something spectacular to be in the winning form again.

With a number of rookies in their team, UST was able to snatch a second runner up finish. Their performance yesterday needs more of polishing and the execution of the pyramids and other stunts were not that difficult. But I really like that they ended their performance with a bang with a banner that reads 400 growls. UST is celebrating its 400th year anniversarry next year.

Last year's champion Far Eastern University won 1st runner up honors and University of the Philippines gain the Championship title for this year. These two teams really perform amazing stunts and they deserve the top prizes.

I can't wait for next year's competition and see if UST will be able to snatch the Championship title once again. Go USTe!

Math Help

I must admit, Math has not been and will never be a favorite subject of mine. I struggled with my College Algebra and Algebra 1 's concept like Linear equations seems like an alien language to me. I am just fortunate that a Square root calculator is available to help me with my square root equation problems.

Good thing though, I was able to pass this subject and my other math subjects or else I might not be able to finish college.

I wish that online math tutoring was already available when I was back in college perhaps I may have not have much difficulty finding math answers and the subject could have been a breeze for me.

Eating Out at North Park Restaurant

It was my cousin Krystle's birthday last September 8 and because it was on a weekday we only got to celebrate her birthday last Friday.

My cousin Krystle and her four sister with our Aunt Edna and Uncle Katz went out and had dinner at North Park in Glorietta 5 in Makati City.

There were a lot of yummy dishes ordered that I opted not to eat rice anymore and have more room for viands. :) What I like about North Park is that there dishes are delicious but at the same time it's really affordable.

We had North Park Special Toast Noodles - noodles are important part of any birthday celebration because it symbolizes long life. We have the Sweet and Sour Pork, Salted Garlic Squid, Shanghai Chicken, Yang Chow Fried Rice, Beef with Mushroom and Broccoli and some other dishes I failed to take note off the name. Just typing the name of the dishes makes me crave for some Chinese food.

I was not able to take some pictures because my digital camera was with my boyfriend, anyway there are still a lot of birthday celebrations at NorthPark.

Updates

It's almost a month since I last posted here in my blog. Well, I must admit after the two birthday celebrations of two family members, things got pretty boring I don't have anything to blog about.

Things are a little bit frustrating and busy at work and at home plus I got the flu for five days that I don't have the energy anymore to blog. I only have the time to drop some entrecards.

I hope I can make things pick up a little bit with this blog even if its the middle of the month and this is only my second post for September. :(

Now, that I'm typing this post I kind of remember that last month I was able to visit Saint Pio of Pietrelcina Center and I had an acupuncture session too.

I'll be posting about the trip to the St Pio Center and the acupuncture session on the coming days.

So happy that I have this three days weekend off I get to the a lot of cleaning here in the house, go out with family for dinner last night, watch "Glee " on DVD and spend quality time with my loved ones.

God Whispers

Dear Joy,

I delight in you. When I look at you, I smile. You don't have to do anything good to make me smile. You just have to exist, and I smile. You just have to breathe, and my heart leaps for joy. That's how important you are to Me.

GOD,

PS. Learn from me. Delight in yourself, Joy.
