My Cousin's Wedding

It was drizzling a little bit when we(my family with My Tita Bilibot, Tito Richard and my cousin, Butchokoy) left Quezon City for Pampanga last Saturday afternoon. Before I boarded our vehicle I said a prayer and wished that the sun is up and the sky is clear at our destination since the wedding ceremony is going to be held outdoor.

Traffic was terrible from North Avenue all the way to Balintawak, it consumed almost an hour of our traveling time already. But traffic is light at the North Luzon Express Way; we arrived at the LakeShore at four in the afternoon.

It was a good thing that the wedding hasn’t started just yet. Light snacks were still being served for the guests but my family skipped the refreshments and went straight to our own picture taking session to take advantage of the beautiful place and its scenery.

The ceremony was at the pier beside the man made lake of LakeShore, Mexico Pampanga. The stage where the vows were exchanged had the lake as its background. The whole pier was elegantly decorated with pink flowers.

Here’s the picture of the dashing groom, Reynald, clearly the happiest man that day.

The lovely bride, Kate , my first cousin

The groom became teary-eyed when he saw his bride walking down the aisle and almost choked in tears as he recited his wedding vows and the bride was as emotional as well especially in the part where she thanked her parents for their love and support.

Reception was held at the air conditioned white tent near the pier. The audiovisual presentation of the couple’s love story was hilarious and beautifully done and the host for the evening was very competent at his job.

The menu that night was the following: Clam Chowder Soup. Steak ala Pobre, Layered Fish Fillet with Asparagus and Bacon in Cream Sauce, Korean Grilled Chicken, Linguine in Marinara, Linguine in Carbonara Sauce, Braised Beef in Cranberry Sauce; there’s a salad bar, a tempura station and assorted cakes for dessert.

The food was abundant and I must say that the food was really delicious. My favorite was the Layered Fish Fillet with Asparagus and Bacon in Cream Sauce; it was really creamy and tasty.

After all the traditional activities done at the reception like cutting of the cake, the toast for the couple, bouquet throwing and others, the guests dance through the night.

It was a beautiful wedding. Everyone present at the event was happy to witness the union of two people truly in love with one another before God.

To Reynald and Kate, have a blessed and happy married life. Best Wishes!

Off for the Weekend

To all my blogger friends I may not be able to visit your site and drop entrecards these weekend because I'll be attending my cousin's wedding in the province.

I'll check all your blogs on Monday.

My first cousin Kate is tying the knot with her long time boyfriend Reynald this Saturday, January 24, 2009.

The bride's hometown is at Balanga, Bataan while the groom's family is based in Cainta, Rizal ; with that in consideration, they decided they are going to meet half way. The garden wedding tomorrow is all set at LakeShore, Mexico, Pampanga at half past three in the afternoon.

I'm super excited about the wedding. I prepared my formal dress, shoes and other accessories as early as first week of January and I already envisioned how my hair and make up will look like this Saturday.

I'm happy for the couple because I have been a witness to their love for one another and it's a wonderful thing to witness their union before God.

I'll be posting about my weekend trip next week.

Have a blessed weekend everyone!

Cervical Cancer Vaccine

Last month I wrote a post about Breast Cancer Awareness. One of my blog friends wrote a comment on that post and narrated that she just came from a friend’s wake that died of cervical cancer.

That comment made me searched on the web for information regarding the disease.

According to wikipedia, Cervical Cancer is a malignant cancer of the cervix. The cervix is the area in between the uterus (the womb) and the vagina. The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is the main viral agent that triggers the alteration of genes that causes cervical cancer.

Genital HPV is the most common type of virus that is sexually transmitted. Most sexually active women will get the virus at some point in their lives but often times are not aware that they have it since most HPV do not present any symptoms and naturally go away on its own. But some types of HPV cause cervical cancer and other less common types of genital cancers in the anus, vulva and the vagina.

HPV 16 and HPV 18 are the types that account for the 71 percent that cause cervical cancer.

Cervical Cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths for women in the Philippines. According to the World Health Organization, around 500,000 cases of cervical cancer in 2005 were reported and this disease usually afflicts young women.

The good news is that a vaccine against HPV 16 and HPV 18 has been developed. This is the first vaccine developed against cancer. Girls as young as eleven years old and women up to forty-five years old can avail of it. The vaccine is given in three doses administered intramuscularly given within the period of six months.

Having learned of this information, I had my first shot of the vaccine this month, administered to me by Tita Edna, a physician, and since she is also my godmother I was given a discount on the vaccine.

After the shot was given to me, I experienced the soreness on the arm where it was administered. I can’t move my arm freely for two days but other than that I did not experience other side effect.

So asked your Family Doctor about the vaccine and have yourself protected as well.

An Aid For My Personal Finances

Last year, I attended the “How to Be Truly Rich” Seminar by Bo Sanchez, and since then I have been cautious with how I used my money.

I have learned to set aside twenty percent of my salary and divide the money equally between my emergency fund and my wealth fund.

My emergency fund is almost half the goal I have set and once I have completed the amount I can now focus all of my money in creating my wealth fund.

As to my wealth fund, I have invested my money in mutual funds and saving some money on a business I plan to put up hopefully this year or next year.

In my pursuit of putting my finances in order, I continue to read books on money and investments and visit different sites on finances.

One of the most helpful sites that aid people with their finances is MonitorBankRates.com

MonitorBankRates.com helps online user how to choose and make their Online Savings Account. Users of this website can see and compare the different interest rates offered by various banks as well as their various promos and the requirements needed to have a savings account.

This site truly helps people choose the bank with the best rates for their savings, people like me no longer needs to check each of the banks individual website, because the interest rates, promos and requirements for the saving accounts have already been listed in the site.

Aside from savings account, people can also use this website to check the rates of the banks for their Certificates of Deposits (CD). MonitorBankRates.com have a CD calculator that can help them compute the CD Rates of their Certificate of Deposits and see how much money it will earn by making use of the Certificate of Deposit Calculator available for use in the website.

By using this Certificate of Deposit Calculator people can compare the different rates offered by different banks and see for themselves which bank gives them the most return for their hard earned money.

This site also features the different Credit Cards by category or issuing bank, so people can choose which credit cards suit their lifestyle.

MonitorBankRates.com also gives a variety of information on mortgages, auto loans, insurance and personal finance; the site also have various articles in their site on saving for the rainy days, how to protect ourselves from online identity theft, how to invest in a Certificate of Deposits and other topics on finances.

One of the best features of this site for me would have to be the different financial calculator, web users can used to compute for mortgages, credit card payoff, Certificate of Deposit Ladder rates, and on home equity debt consolidation.

Visit this site and you will learn a lot about your finances especially in the area of finding the best bank rates for your savings, certificate of deposits and other investment opportunities.

A Sad Turn for I Love Betty

I enjoy watching “I love Betty “(the local version of the Columbian telenovela “Betty La Fea”) on television every weeknight on ABS CBN, with Bea Alonzo as the lead actress and John Lloyd as her leading man.

I love watching it because it’s very entertaining and never failed to make me laugh at night. Plus, despite the evil schemes of Daniella (the character played by Ms. Ruffa Gutierrez) and her cohorts, the goodness and wit of Betty always triumph in the end. And it never fails to show the importance of family and friendship.

But lately, for the past five days, I’ve stopped watching it because Betty has turned vindictive already. I know that she has been hurt and her actions were based on the bad things that happened to her and Armando (played by John Lloyd). But it made me feel sad that the motivations of her actions were base on revenge.

It seems that the story of almost all the characters have revolved around revenge. Daniella wants Eco Moda Agency (the advertising firm owned by the family of Armando) to fail out of revenge to the father of Armando who left her mother. Marcella is now going to help her sister (Daniella) brings Eco Moda down because she wants to get back at Armando for breaking up with her. And now, its Betty turn, she wants to undergo plastic surgery and then plot her revenge on Armando. Oh well, it made me really sad.

I know that when we are hurt, out of our anger we may wished that bad things will happened to the one who hurt us but to actually plot and do things to actually do harm to others is something that I cannot take. I believe that revenge is not in our hands it belongs to God. And revenge starts an endless cycle of hurting a lot of people in the process.

So much, for my guilty pleasure at night, I’ll just probably go back to watching it when the characters have learned how to forgive and believe in the goodness of others.

Happy New Year

My first post for the new year!

I'm itching to blog these past few days but I'm having problems with my internet connection at home and I'm swamped with a lot of work that I'm bringing some of my paper works at home just to catch up.

A lot of thoughts clutter my mind right now that I can't seem to think of anything to blog about, it must have been due to the long holidays, my mind is still idle.

Well, I hoped this new year will be a blessed and happy one for all of us.

I'm claiming 2009 as my year!!!

to everyone!
