Slumdog Millionaire

Slumdog Millionaire won 8 Academy Awards including the top plum which is Best Picture. The other awards are: Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Film Editing, Best Original Score, Best Original Song and Best Sound Mixing.

According to the poll set by CNN, the survey last night stated that 51 % of the viewers think that it deserves to win while 49% said it does not deserve the award.

Actually, I haven't seen the movie yet, and I'm not even aware whether it was already shown here in the Philippines. I'm sure that if it wasn't screened here yet and people get to watch it, a lot of people will be trooping to the movie houses just to see it and definitely I'll be one of those who will watch.

I became curious about the film because of all the awards it won.

I love watching Hollywood stars on their way to a red carpet entrance to the Kodak Theater for the Oscar Awards.

I am simply at awe at the glamorous looks of the actresses. I want to see their beautiful gowns and the expensive jewelries they are wearing. And of course, I wouldn’t want to miss how the actors look as well.

After the award’s night, I’m looking forward to the reviews made by fashion critics regarding the looks of the different stars. I want to compare notes with the critics if we share the same views regarding the looks of the celebrities.

So, I’m going to definitely watch E news tonight and see the buzz about the Oscar Awards.

Anime Chat City

My brothers and even my boyfriend, Boyet loves to watch anime on television; and because of their fondness for it, I end up being curious and getting hook on watching the anime they are following.

Some of the anime I have seen are: “Slamdunk,” “Samurai X,” “Hunter X Hunter,” “Ghost Fighter,” “Gundum Wing,” and the classics like “ Voltes V,” “Daimos,” and “Astroboy.”

But among these anime, I would have to say that my favorite would have to be “Slamdunk.” It is about the adventures of the basket ball high school players of the team Shohoku. I enjoy watching it because of the funny antics of Hanamichi Sakuragi and because I have a big crush on Mitsui, Shohoku’s three point artist.

The current favorite in the anime world, in my own opinion, would have to be “Naruto.” My brothers would watch it on television, they have DVDs of the past episodes and they even surf the internet to watch the latest episode.

If you are like my brothers or one of the millions of fan of anime or would like to know more about anime? Then animechatcity.com is the best chat room for you to go for your free anime chat. Here in this chat room, you will be able to meet, talk and view on the webcam other people all over the world who enjoy watching anime just as you do. You will be able to discover other people who are as fond of anime as you do and gain friends all over the world. You can exchange stories with other fellow anime watcher about episodes you have watched that they may have not seen yet or they can inform you about other great anime shows you have not watch as well. Aside from that, you’ll learn about the latest and be up to date with the fad that is rocking the anime world. Anime fans or simple anime watcher will surely have a grand time sharing their thoughts on these anime titles: “Slamdunk,” “Samurai X,” “Hunter X Hunter,” “Ghost Fighter,” “Gundum Wing,” and the classics like “Voltes V,” “Daimos,” “Astroboy.” and other anime shows because for sure you will discover that there are a lot of anime you have not seen yet. All these fun activities can be all yours by visiting anime chat city.

What I Am Reading Right Now

This book is one of the presents I gave myself for my Birthday.

“Become a Better You,” is the latest book by Joel Osteen. Joel Osteen is the senior pastor of LakeWood Church. He is one of my favorite Christian writers.

I love his writings because it is centered on how to live victoriously and to trust in God’s great plan for our lives.

His first book “Your Best Life Now,” is one of my favorite inspirational books of all time the others being “The Purpose Driven Life “ by Rick Warren and “Experiencing The Life of Jesus” by Max Lucado.

When I read his first book, it took me a couple of days just to get through some few pages because I have to stop after a few lines just to reflect on what was beautifully written. And I would underline all the words that touched me

Become a Better You is as delightful to read as his book and just like the first one I know that I will learn a lot of wonderful insights in this book.

My Morning Reflection

Yesterday, I went to the office feeling tired and lazy. I was thinking how long and busy that day would be. But at the same time, I was trying to cheer myself up and I said to myself that I should love my work, there are a lot of people who are jobless right now who would love to trade places with me.

Because I wanted to motivate myself to work joyfully, I opened my email to check for my weekly soul food newsletter from Bo Sanchez.

Bo Sanchez is a favorite lay preacher of mine. He is an author of many inspiring books, founder and one of the writers of Kerygma magazine, leader of the Catholic Community –Light of Jesus.

The mail was entitled “We Lost Our Baby.”

Bo Sanchez’ wife Marowe, had a miscarriage. It was her third miscarriage. He was waiting at one corner of the operating room when the doctor approached him to let him see the dead baby in the palm of the hand of the doctor. Bo Sanchez, got his holy water and baptized the baby and gave it the name Mikki.

He was devastated and so is his wife. But he wrote in the newsletter that he choose to trust God, that there is a reason that God already called baby Mikki. That in his faith he will not question God’s purpose because God’s ways are far higher, superior than that of ours.

It was a powerful message for me.

I have been praying for months for a particular intention it has something to do with Boyet’s career advancement. Sadly, we received the news that he did not get the career advancement we were hoping for. I was so heartbroken and so is Boyet, we’ve been praying and working hard for it and then we did not get what we want.

Bo Sanchez’ newsletter made me realized that I need to trust God, that despite the disappointment it’s not the end of everything. God has better plans and it’s always for the best. So now, I’m looking forward to what God has in store for me and Boyet.

A New Prescription Glasses For Me

I have been wearing contact lenses for the past two years because of my poor eyesight. But there are days when I’m too lazy to clean my lenses that I have to wear my prescription glasses.

I have been using my prescription glasses for three years already and I’m thinking of getting a new pair of eyeglasses from Zenni Optical.

I need a new pair of glasses that are beautiful, stylish and not that expensive like the ones offered by Zenni Optical. Their stylish eyeglasses and low cost frames earned a mention for Zenni Optical in the New York Times!? An article at the New York Times entitled "Seeing Straight Without Breaking Bank," highlighted the affordability of the glasses that Zenni Optical sells. In the same article, they posted that an average frame of glasses would cost $118.00 while Zenni Optical have Prescription eyeglasses for only $8.
I am planning to get this stainless steel half rim frame with acetate temples in purple color. The other colors for the frame is pink, burgundy and black This frame is just perfect for the shape of my face.

My Valentine's Flowers

This is the bouquet of flowers I got from Boyet last Valentine's Day. This is the first time that I received a bouquet from him without any rose in it. He told me that he wanted something different this Valentine's Day, he was the one who personally chose the flowers that would go into the flower arrangement. But even if there's no rose in the bouquet I still find it pretty.
We did not go out on a date last Saturday because I was not feeling well. I had colds and a slight fever all thoroughout the weekend.

Meet My Family!

from left to right: d.a, me, paul and papa

If you are wondering, where my mom is in the picture? she passed away thirteen years ago due to breast cancer.

I am the eldest child and the only girl now in the family. Paul, is my brother who followed me and D.A. is the youngest among us but as you may observed he is the tallest. D.A's features are a little bit different from mine and Paul's because he looks more of my mom while me and Paul got most of my Dad's feature except for the height which we both lacked. hehehe.

This picture was taken at my cousin's wedding in Pampanga.

My Two Birthday Cakes

I celebrated my birthday last Saturday, February 7. Yahoo!

And part of my birthday gifts were these two birthday cakes from two important people who made my day extra special.

Sorry for the pictures, both were already consumed before I was able to take a picture of it.

The first cake was a chocolate roll from Red Ribbon.

It was given to me by Ate Debbie. Ate Debbie was a choir mate. I used to sing with an all female choir group in our parish two years ago. When my dad became sick with an end stage renal disease, I asked permission from them to take a leave. I was so surprised because Ate Debbie dropped by our house at one in the afternoon just to greet me and give me this gift. I was so touched because she remembered my birthday and took the effort just to see me.

The second one is a mocha chiffon cake also from Red Ribbon, which happens to be my favorite cake flavor.

This one was a present from Aileen, one of boarders at home. We have a room in our house and we admit lady boarders. Aileen has been staying at our place for the past two years and she is considered part of the family already. When my father was undergoing dialysis prior to his kidney transplant, Aileen was kind enough to accompany my father in his treatment sessions.

Thank you to Ate Debbie and Aileen for making my birthday extra special and sweet.

My Healthy Habits

I turned 30 last February 7.

And now that I’m in my thirty’s, I’ve decided that I’ll embrace my age and take necessary steps to commit myself to a much healthy lifestyle.

I don’t smoke and I don’t take any alcoholic beverage. I make it a point that I get to sleep at least seven hours, anything less than that makes me cranky and irritated. I do stretching exercises every morning and I take my Vitamin C everyday.

But because I want to stay healthy and fit, I’ve decided to add this activity to my daily regimen.

I’m drinking more water. I know I must be conscious with my water intake and be sure that I drink not only when I’m thirsty or after taking my meal.

I am now taking a calcium supplement because I’m not much of a milk drinker.

I must be aware of my posture because I have this tendency to slouch. Slouching makes people look old and unattractive and at the same time it causes back, shoulder and neck pain. To address this problem, I already bought myself a posture corrector from Avon which helps me a lot in correcting my posture.

I now make sure that I get to have a serving of a fruit daily which I don’t do before and hopefully I can move up to two servings of fruit.

I’m now scouting for a perfect eye cream. Hmmh…..Do you have a suggestion for a not so expensive but effective eye cream?

These are the things I have been observing since Monday, I hope I can really turn all of these into habits.

Renewing Your License at the Professional Regulation Commission

I am off from work today!

I am at the Professional Regulation Commission office earlier to renew my medical technologist license. The renewal process was just a breeze, it only took me twenty minutes to do everything but since I applied for the Fast ID Process, I'll be able to claim my ID before lunch time today.

So while waiting for my ID, I'm here at one of the computer cafes here in Morayta to do some blogging and to check my emails.

To all who are planning to renew their license, here are some guidelines on the renewal process:

1. People wearing shorts and sleeveless shirts, male applicants wearing sandals or shoes
without socks are not allowed to enter the premises of the PRC.

2Near the entrance of the PRC, there is a booth to the left where you can get the application forms for the renewal of license.

There are two types of application:

a. Fast ID application-you can claim your professional ID on the same day. The procedure is: fill up the form intended for fast renewal, photocopy your old id, have the form assessed by prc personnel, pay the fees at the cashier , proceed to the fifth floor for the picture taking, go back to the prc personnel who assessed your form where a claim slip will be handed out to you and wait for three hours to claim your ID.

b.Regular application- fill up the form intended for regular renewal application, photocopy your old id, and prepare two pieces of passport size colored,ID picture, with white background; have the form assessed by prc personnel, pay the fees at the cashier, submit the application form and the receipt to the prc personnel who assessed you and get your claim stub. The ID will be ready in three weeks.

The fee for the regular application is P450.oo while for the fast ID application you have to pay P900.oo.

I hope these information will be helpful for those who are going to renew their professional license.
