Shine Jesus Shine
God Has Amazing Things in Store for You
Stars do not struggle to shine; rivers do not struggle to flow, and you will never struggle to excel in life, because you deserve the best. Hold on to your dream and it shall be well with you… Amen.
The eyes beholding this message shall not behold evil, the hand that will send this message to others shall not labor in vain, the mouth saying Amen to this prayer shall laugh forever, remain in God’s love. Good morning, your dream will not die, your plans will not fail, your destiny will not be aborted, and the desire of your heart will be granted in Jesus’ name.
Say a big Amen and if you believe it, send it to all your friends. Blessings will know your name and address beginning this day. None goes to the river early in the morning and brings dirty water. As you are up this morning, may your life be clean, calm and clear like the early morning water. May the grace of the Almighty support, sustain and supply all your needs according to His riches and glory. Amen.
Love the Lord. Have a wonderful day in Jesus’ name. The will of God will never take you where the grace of God will not protect you.
Remember You are Blessed beyond all curses in Jesus’ name (John 10:10)

The Golden Buddha
There was a temple in Thailand that houses a ten feet clay Buddha. Because the temple was in the way of a new highway construction, the Buddha must be transferred to a new place. The monks hired people to uproot the statue from the temple. Unfortunately, a storm erupted during the move. The monks, fearing that the Buddha may be destroyed covered the Buddha with a canvas. But the strong rain seeped through the covering, soaking the statue in rain. One of the monks peered through the canvas and saw something gleamed from the inside. All the monks were surprised to find out that the rain-washed out all of the clay covering of the Buddha revealing a statue made of pure gold.
The monks after researching, discovered that many years ago, the original monks of the temple, covered the gold statue with clay to conceal it from the invading Burmese troops. The Burmese soldiers killed all the monks and left the statue thinking that it was of no value because it was made of clay. Since all of the monks perished in the attack, no one was able to know the secret inside the clay Buddha.
Sometimes we need to go through the rains to discover the gold within us.
This story is a timely reminder for me, I’ve been under a lot of stress due to work concerns for the past few days. I know that no matter how difficult things are right now, I have the strength within me to overcome it. The trial I face at the moment is meant to toughen and make me realize just how good, how very good and special I am.
(I heard this story over the radio this morning from Bo Sanchez. Bo Sanchez is a Catholic Lay preacher, best selling author and publisher of Kerygma, a Catholic Inspirational Magazine )

When he went to Japan to work, we would exchange e-mail everyday. Then all of the sudden for five straight days I never received any message from him. By that time I was beginning to be worried and upset because I don’t know what’s going on in Japan.
On the afternoon of the fifth day, I saw him standing by my office door. I was so surprised to see him that I was not able to move from where I am and I was not able to utter any word as well. I just stared at him. He came over to where I was and gave me a big hug and planted a kiss on my forehead. Then he pulled out a ring from his pocket and put it on my finger and said “ O yan. engaged na tayo.”
We are engaged but no date yet for our wedding day.
10. What is his term of endearment for you? Honey, but more often he likes calling me especially in his text messages – Joyjoy

The Oprah Winfrey Leadership School
Last Monday, June 9,2008, I was able to watch a feature about the “Oprah Winfrey Leadership School “ on Velvet Channel.
It was an hour show documenting how the school was built, how the students were selected and how involved Oprah Winfrey is in the whole process of creating the campus.
The Oprah Winfrey Leadership School is a school that gives hope to young, bright and talented girls from poor families in South Africa.
Sade and Megan are sisters who both got accepted to the school. They were just five and six years old when they lost their parents. Their father shot their mother to death and then committed suicide by shooting himself as well. The whole violent incident was witness by the two youngsters. One of the students selected lives in a community where twelve of their family members have died due to violent related incidents. The student would go to school in the morning praying that as she walked the streets of Alexandra she wouldn’t be killed, raped or attacked. Most of the girls came from neighborhoods with out electricity, water supply and sewerage system.
But despite poverty, abuse and violence, these girls radiate a very positive energy from within them. They know how to dream and believe that better things in life are coming their way through a good education.
Oprah Winfrey is a very giving woman. She took it upon herself the responsibility of giving these girls a chance to have a good life ahead of them by giving them the best education. She gave a promise to all the girls that everyone who graduated from the school will be given college education to any university in whatever part of the world that they wish to enter. Everything the girls need has been provided for them in their school: their food, their uniforms, books, bags, shoes as in everything; all the girls need to do is to study.
Miss Winfrey is not only generous with her resources but also with her time. She would flew in from Chicago to South Africa to personally interview each of the girls, to check if the school is being built to her specification and to choose even the linens to be used for the beds in the dormitories.
The school opened its door to more or less two hundred students in 2007. For the school opening, some of the guests present were Mariah Carey, Chris Brown, Sidney Poitier, Diane Sawyer and Nelson Mandela, former president of South Africa.
Oprah Winfrey is an inspiration. I know I don’t need to be as rich or powerful as she is to make a difference in other peoples lives. A simple act of volunteering my time to an organization or a consistent contribution to charitable institution would mean a lot to other people. The show actually made me think – what organization would I volunteer my time and talent and give my monthly love offering to? Any suggestion? :)

The Weekend That Was
It’s back to work for me today. No blogging for me the last three days because there is a problem with our computer at home. I hope that my cpu will be replaced soon (paging honey, don’t forget your promise. I hope you’re reading this.)
Anyway, I’m happy to be back to work today. I feel recharged after a restful yet productive three day rest. Now, I can get back to blogging and to visiting my blogger friends. Yehey!
As to being productive, I was able to change and to put on a new set of curtains in our living room, throw pillow cases, tablecloth on the dining table, and bed sheets on all of our beds with its matching pillow cases on all of our pillows. I was able to organize the things inside the drawers of my dresser and side table inside my room and fix the things inside my cabinet as well.
Over the weekend also, I did some cooking. For Saturday, I prepared Arroz ala Cubana and for Sunday, I cooked Beef Calderetta. Since Boyet visited me at home during the weekend, he got the chance to sample my cooking. He said that I’m getting better with my cooking. I knew that he liked the Calderetta more because he had a third serving of it. Truly, the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. He,he,he.
As for the relaxation part, I was able to get a lot of sleep over the weekend and last Sunday night I went to bed at eight and get up the following day at seven already. During the afternoon of the three day break I was able to have my siesta as well. So you can say that I’m really well rested and ready for the new work week.
Last Saturday, Boyet and I went to Sta. Lucia Mall to watch Narnia’s second movie installment which s “Prince Caspian.” I enjoyed this movie more than the first one. After the movie, we went to Riverbanks in Marikina. We bought a polo shirt for Papa because it’s Father’s Day next Sunday. I bought myself a pair of sandals and Boyet bought a belt bag for himself.
Sadly, over the weekend my father’s bestfriend passed away. My father could not pay his last respect because he just had an operation last week. It was my brother and I who went to his wake yesterday.
So that’s about everything that happened to me last weekend.

A Piece On Health
My Dad had the stone in his urinary bladder removed yesterday. It was a minor operation but I was praying for days that the medicine prescribed to him by his doctor would be enough to shrink this stone. But his ultrasound result showed that the size of this stubborn stone remained the same. So he had it removed.
I was hoping that he doesn’t have to go through another operation. This operation was his seventh in the span of three years. He had to go through a lot of operation because of his illness before.
My father was diagnosed with an End Stage Renal Disease in November 2006. This is actually the complication of his hypertension or what we commonly refer to as “high blood.” Both of my father’s kidneys were already destroyed by the time he had himself checked by a nephrologist (a kidney specialist)
To save his life he had to undergo a dialysis and finally a kidney transplant. To facilitate his dialysis and kidney transplant he had to go through a number of operations, which I don’t want to go into details. It was my younger brother, Paul who donated one of his kidneys for Papa. It has been a year since he had his kidney transplant operation. He is well and perfectly fit except for the stone in his bladder.
But even if I did not get what I’m praying for, I’m still grateful that his operation went well and he will be leaving the hospital late this afternoon or early morning tomorrow. And compared to his end stage renal disease, bladder stone is just a piece of cake for my strong Dad.
So gently remind your parents to have their blood pressure check religiously .My father was unaware before that he was suffering from hypertension. He said that he did not experience the classic symptoms of: pain in the nape area, headache, dizziness or blurring of vision. And if you have a family history of hypertension it would be best even at our age to have our blood pressure taken as well. High blood pressure can lead to heart attack, stroke or end stage renal disease. Hypertension can be easily managed through medicines prescribed by physicians, healthy diet, stress management and exercise. As the cliché goes: prevention is better than cure

Help
I have a problem. Rhia, gave me a blog award. I wanted to post it last Friday, but since Friday, I’ve been figuring out how to make it appear on the blog. How do I copy a tag with a picture on it? I can’t make the picture appear on my blog. Please help. Thank you.
Being Productive
May, was a productive month for my blog. I have eleven entries posted. It was a feat for me because as you can see in my archive there are months in the past three years that I don’t have any post. Not only did I increase in the number of entries I’ve posted but I was able to put a cbox and I was able to add links to my blog.
I am happy that this blog, already have visitors and people are actually reading my post.
So dear friends, expect more entries from me this month. May we all have a wonderful month ahead for all of us.
