Over the weekend, I was able to watch the movie Madagascar Escape 2 Africa at the Blue Wave Cinema.
I was not able to watch the first Madagascar movie so it is my first time to be introduced to: Alex ( the lion ), Marty ( the zebra ), Gloria ( the hippopotamus ), and Melman ( the giraffe ).
The movie runs for ninety-five minutes and star studded casts lend their voices to the following characters:
Ben Stiller as Alex
Chris Rock as Marty
Jada Pinkett Smith as Gloria
Bernie Mac as Zuba (Alex’s father)
Alec Baldwin as Makungga
will.i.am as Moto Moto
Madagascar Escape 2 Africa is a funny and entertaining movie. Moviegoers should watch out for Alex’s dancing moves, Marty’s antics, granny’s fight scene and the wonderful songs featured in the movie.
That’s all I’m going to reveal right now, see and watch the movie to have a fun time.

On Road Accidents and Accident Claims
For months now we have witness an increase in the number of accidents involving a passenger bus and a private vehicle. What’s alarming about this is that often times the accidents were caused by the bus driver driving beyond the set speed limit.
The accident along Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue last month in the wee hours of the morning could have been prevented if the bus driver of the Jhoanna Jess bus was not racing with another bus driver. The Jhoanna Jess bus rammed into a Mercedes Benz car that caused the car to take a couple of turns and burst into flames and burning the driver of the car alive.
The first day of the this month, we heard the news that an overtaking, speeding provincial bus had a head on collision with a Toyota Revo along the North Luzon Express Way that killed four people and injuring a number of passengers.
Last Wednesday, Zara Lopez, a model and a member of the group Viva Hot Babes had an accident at the South Luzon Express Way. The green Honda CRV she was driving was sideswiped by a speeding passenger bus that overtook her, causing the car to slam into a concrete barrier along that stretch of the road. The bus driver just speeds off after hitting the car as if nothing happened. Unfortunately, she wasn’t able to get the plate number of the bus.
With all these accidents, our bus drivers should have mandatory seminars on road safety and courtesy to prevent deaths, injuries and damage to properties.
Going back to Zara Lopez, she appealed to the passenger bus driver or even to the passengers of the bus to come forward and shed light on the incident. She suffered minor cuts and bruises and also she was complaining that she has a terrible headache, and that her whole body aches as well which could be symptoms of whiplash injury.
Whiplash injury is caused when the head and the neck are thrown backward and forward suddenly and violently and this is commonly sustained in car accidents. Other symptoms of this injury includes: fatigue, dizziness, vision problems, tightness and soreness of the muscles.
Miss Lopez should also consider having herself checked by her physician to see if she suffered such injury and access the extent and location of the injury. And if the driver of the bus has been identified, she should not only file for personal injury claims and damage to property but also file for whiplash injury claims if she suffered such ailment as a result of the accident. Whiplash causes a lot of discomfort and she might not be able to return to work immediately.
The victims in the said accidents deserved just compensations and I hope that they get to work with lawyers that will champion their rights, will understand their predicament, be sympathetic to their needs and win their claims for them just like the lawyers of First Personal Injury.
First Personal Injury are UK based lawyers that help people who have been victims in traffic accidents, or injured in their workplaces and in cases where people are hurt through circumstances that of no fault of their own. They help people make their personal injury claims, bicycle accident claims, whiplash injury claims and other legal claims fitting and just for the person injured.
The lawyers of the First Personal Injury specialize in making accident claims. They have been servicing people in this field for over a decade and they have been considered as one of the leaders in UK’s personal injury law firms.
What’s unique about First Personal Injury services is that they offer no win no legal fee services to people who may not be able to pay for their services. This special service would be of great help to those who are struggling financially especially now that we are experiencing a global financial crisis. It is really expensive and costly to be hospitalized. And after sustaining personal injury due to accidents, it is not easy to go back to work. It takes days to recover and do the normal chores you have to do everyday. Because of this specialization, clients of First Personal Injury don’t have to worry about legal fees but concentrate first on getting well and winning the case.
And since accidents and injuries can happen to anybody it is good to know that there are lawyers in First Personal Injury that can handle the case for you from start to finish. They are not only professional but also friendly as well, making accident claims become stress free, simple but the most important of all you can be sure that you are claims will be successful.
I hope our bus drivers become more responsible with their driving and I must remind my father to stay away from main roads and just stick around our neighborhood when he goes biking to prevent him from encountering buses and having bicycle accidents.

Breast Cancer Awareness
My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992. She had a mastectomy of her left breast and she had undergone all the treatments: chemotherapy, radiation therapy and other medications to battle the big C but in 1996, a month after my high school graduation she succumbed to the disease.
Breast Cancer awareness is important to us women, cancer can afflict anyone regardless of stature, color or race. The disease had claimed the lives of countless mothers, sisters, wives and friends.
According to the research done by the Avon Foundation, globally a woman is diagnosed with the illness every three minutes and every fourteen minutes a woman dies of breast cancer; these figures are alarming. In the Philippines, a Filipina dies of breast cancer every two hours while ten thousand cases of breast cancer are diagnosed every year.
The early detection of breast cancer increases the chances of a woman surviving the disease.
Everywoman must be vigilant to catch the disease in its early stage as possible and we can do this by conducting a self breast examination every month, a week after our menstruation.
Here’s a link to a site that illustrates how to perform a self breast exam.
Aside from performing a self breast exam, a healthy lifestyle also helps a lot to prevent breast cancer.
As women, let us protect ourselves against breast cancer and pray that a cure against breast cancer will be developed soon.

Not Feeling Well
I'm not feeling well today. My throat is itchy, I'm feeling weak and I'm down with the cold virus.
The medication I took this morning makes me feel sleepy.
But even if I'm not feeling well, I still opted to go to work this morning, I'll just file for a half day leave later so I can still do some work today and have a long rest at home in the afternoon.
Sorry, if I won't be able to visit your blog today.
Hopefully, tomorrow I'll be well already.
Have a blessed day!

Book Time: Eat,Pray,Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
I’m done reading “Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert.
I saw this book as one of the books recommended by one of the columnists of the Philippine Star. I wanted a copy of that book but I was not able to find one when I searched for it at the National Bookstore.
A few months after, one of my friends got a package from the states and as she excitedly showed me the stuffs sent to her by her boyfriend. I was so happy to gaze upon this book. I remembered how much I wanted to read it and I’m reminded that when you want something with no evil intentions the whole of the universe conspires to bring to you want your heart desire.
Anyway, going back to the book………
Elizabeth Gilbert, the author, just came out from a bitter divorce and recently ended her relationship with another boyfriend. These incidents in her life left her sorrowful, depressed and broken; she then embarked on a journey of self-discovery across three different countries in a period of a year.
What started this whole journey was that she wanted to have as in her own words from the book, “I want to have a lasting experience of God….Sometimes I feel like I understand the divinity of this world, but then I lose it because I get distracted by my petty desires and fears. I want to be with God all the time. But I don’t want to be a monk, or totally give up worldly pleasures. I guess what I want to learn is how to live in this world and enjoy its delights but also devote myself to God.”
She started her voyage in Italy to explore the art of pleasure, four months after she settled in an Ashram in India in her pursuit of prayer life and devotion and the last trimester of her trip was in Indonesia to find the balance between pleasure and devotion.
It’s really a wonderful book filled with insights on finding the balance in our life, pursuing happiness and of letting go of our pains.
Elizabeth Gilbert is a gifted writer. And she’s really good describing the details of her trip. I can almost taste the delicious, gooey mozzarella pizza she tried in Naples, I can empathize with her struggles to quiet down the noises in her head as she meditates in one of the prayer caves in Mumbai and I can almost picture the beauty of Bali, Indonesia in my mind. Reading this book made me feel that I’ve been to these amazing countries.
Eat, pray, love is a good read.

What is Prediabetes?
My father’s blood sugar level is elevated. And because of this, his doctor gave him a medicine intended to lower his blood sugar.
If I had the chance to talk to his doctor, I would have asked if taking that medicine was that necessary or instead of taking that drug my dad could just change his diet and exercise more to lower his blood sugar.
I have this sentiment because the last time his blood sugar was elevated, his previous doctor advised him to go on a low fat diet without taking any medication for his blood sugar and his sugar level became normal. I believe that through self-discipline my dad can lower his blood sugar again.
I’m wary about taking this pill, because as a kidney transplant recipient he is already taking six kinds of medicines , I don’t want him to be dependent on drugs when there is an alternative way to cure him from this condition.
My father ‘s condition is known as a prediabetes, it is a medical condition wherein the blood sugar level of a person is above the normal range but not that high enough for a diagnosis of a diabetes.
People who are prediabetic will become diabetic if they do not take the necessary steps to lower their blood sugar or blood glucose for a more scientific term.
According to my research, a moderate weight loss through diet and regular exercise can significantly lower the blood sugar of a person.
I’m helping my father take the necessary steps to lower his blood sugar because I don’t want him to be diabetic.
A diabetic person has a higher chance of developing an end stage renal disease.
And to prolong the life of a person afflicted with end stage renal disease, one must either have a dialysis or a kidney transplant operation.
I don’t want my father to have another kidney transplant operation.
Last night, my father told me that his going to apply the diet given to him by his nutritionist and that every morning he would ride his bike around our neighborhood for his exercise.
I hope that he’ll stick to this regiment because next month he’s scheduled for another blood glucose laboratory test.

The Power of Words
You’re very professional!”
Those were the words uttered to me by one of my clients this morning. This man was a pilot by profession and for him to notice the service I gave him considering that I’m just doing my work really feels wonderful.
I feel light after hearing those words from him, and it came at the proper time because I’ve been feeling low since yesterday because of some work related issues. His affirmation lift up my spirit that I know this wonderful vibe will stay with me throughout the day.
The power of word does wonder to a tired soul. I just realized that if those three words does magic for me then I can used that same magic on others. If I can just see the positive thing about others and gave an honest compliment for them then I can give them the same effect the man had done for me.
I must be conscious with my words so that I can build up and encourage others as well. As it was written in the Holy Book “Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them,”-Ephesians 4:29.
Let us be mindful of the power of words.

The National Museum of the Philippines

I was in grade three when our class had an educational trip at the National Museum of the Philippines. I remembered how amazed I was when I saw the painting of Juan Luna – The Spoliarium. Even at that age, I felt a sense of pride when I looked at the painting because I knew that it won an award at an international competition.
The oil canvas measures 400 x 700 cm, it depicted dead gladiators being dragged into the shadowy area of a roman arena. The Spoliarium
won the gold medal at the Exposicion National de Belles Artes in 1884.
The painting reflected the maltreatment, abuses and the discrimination of the Spaniards against the Filipinos they considered to be indios.
Were the Spaniards who judge the painting unaware that the painting depicted the plight of the Filipinos under their colonization?
This masterpiece of Juan Luna can be found at the lobby of the main entrance of the national museum.
I had this sudden interest about the National Museum of the Philippines because the Manila Bulletin’s Panorama magazine featured it last Sunday.
The museum also houses various archeological exhibits in the Philippines’ prehistory, including the skull of the “Tabon Man,” which is said to be the oldest human remains in the country. I want to see also the collection of treasures salvaged from the Spanish Galleon, San Diego, that sunk in the Philippine waters in 1600.
One of these weekends, I’ll be tagging my brother, Paul, to the National Museum because he loves history and archeology very much.
The National Museum is located next to the Rizal Park and near Intramuros. It is open from Tuesdays to Sundays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and admission is free.
