Last Sunday morning, Elen, my brother’s girlfriend and I went to the local bakery to buy pandesal. On our way to buy the bread, we passed by a woman walking on the street. This woman is in her mid thirties carrying a child, about two years old in her arms. The woman’s hair looked liked it hasn’t been combed for days, she was really thin and her clothes were clean but looked worn out already. The baby is also thin liked her mother. We pitied the woman and her child.
We have placed already our order of pandesal and we were waiting for it when we noticed the woman we saw earlier asking for bread from the other people waiting for their orders as well. But she was just ignored.
I gazed at her and saw her very sad eyes and from her actions I knew she wasn’t mentally fit.
I asked her which bread she wanted to have and she told me she wanted pandesal. So, I requested the lady manning the bakery to give me ten more pandesal placed in a separate brown paper for the woman. As I handed the bread to her, I gave her also the small change I had from buying the bread.
It was a good thing I bought an extra amount of money with me that morning because I usually just bring the exact amount I need every time I buy pandesal. Without the extra money I wouldn’t be able to help the woman.
That incident was a good way to start a blessed filled week for me.

A Game Of Rummy
Every Sunday, Boyet and I have lunch with my family and then go out on a date in the afternoon. Or if we are lazy, just stay in my house just like what we did yesterday.
There was no movie showing in the theaters that caught our fancy or was their anything in particular that we wanted to buy that would merit a trip to the mall.
We opted to bum around the house and watched “Transformers” on DVD. Yes, we only got to see it yesterday. Then we listened to the music on my MP3 while playing pick up sticks and snacked on hotdogs, chips and soft drinks.
D.A, my younger brother and his girlfriend Elen joined us in playing pick up sticks. We had fun playing this game while reminiscing about our childhood.
If I only discovered the card game called Rummy much earlier; we could have tried it yesterday and enjoy playing it. My other brother, Paul, could have joined us as well.
Rummy according to this very informative site I visit is the third largest card game played all over the world. I also learned in this site an interesting fact about this game is that it is also called “Gin Rummy” because the people who invented the game love to drink gin.
The site explained in full details how to play the game, how to score and to win the game. With the site’s detailed explanation the game seems to be a simple yet entertaining card game to play. Rummy just follows a simple match making rule.
About two to six players can play this game. The game starts with the agreement among players about the target score. The default score for each player is one hundred. The winner is the one who gets the target score.
Aside from featuring the history, how to play the game, you can also play an online game of rummy in this site.
Maybe next Sunday, I can try this game with the rest of the folks at home.

Book Time
Yey! I got a new tag from Kat. Thank you so much.
The rules: 1. Pick up the nearest book of 123 pages or more. No cheating!2. Find page 123.3. Find the first five sentences.4. Post the next three sentences.5. Tag as many people as you want.
The book is entitled “Women on the Journey, Devotions for Women.”
The first three sentences on page 123 are:
I might encounter on my way home. Soon I realized that I would have to overcome whatever fear I had of the dark if I intend to keep my church commitments and the new place for the duration of the lease.
But one night, as I read my Bible, Jesus’ familiar words about being the light of the world took on a whole new meaning.
This book helped me reflect on God’s word every time I’m here at the office.
This tag reminds me that I need to return this book to my friend from whom I borrowed this book from.

Random Thoughts on I Can't Smile Without You and Hell Boy
I Can’t Smile Without You
By Chris Arnold, David Martin, Geoff Morrow
Performed by Barry Manilow
You know I can’t smile without you.
I can’t smile without you.
I can’t laugh, I can’t sing
I’m finding it hard to do anything.
You know I feel glad when you’re glad
I feel sad when you’re sad
If you only knew what I’m going through
I just can’t smile without you
You came along just like a song
You brighten my day.
Who would of you believe that you were part of a dream
Now it all seems like light years away.
You know I can’t smile without you.
I can’t smile without you.
I can’t laugh, I can’t sing
I’m finding it hard to do anything.
You know I feel glad when you’re glad
I feel sad when you’re sad
If you only knew what I’m going through
I just can’t smile without you
Now some people say happiness takes so very long to find
Well, I’m finding it hard leaving your love behind
You know I can’t smile without you.
I can’t smile without you.
I can’t laugh, I can’t sing
I’m finding it hard to do anything.
You know I feel glad when you’re glad
I feel sad when you’re sad
If you only knew what I’m going through
I just can’t smile without you
This song was one of the first songs I’ve learned to sing when I was just a little girl.
My music teacher when I was in grade one taught us this song and I’ve loved this song
I liked the song back then because of the tune.
But looking at the lyrics now, the song may sound upbeat but the words for the music are sad. When you are heartbroken surely you’ll feel lonelier when you listen to it. The words are suggestive of being sad, of not being able to smile without the one you love.
I just remembered the song because it was part of the sound track of the movie “Hell Boy- the Golden Army.”
I was able to catch the flick last Sunday at Blue Wave.
There was a scene in the movie where Red (the nickname of Hell boy) and Abe (the alien creature) were singing this song; it was such a cute scene. Red and Abe are love struck. They were both in love and having problems with their loved ones. Red was sad because Liz ( Red’s girlfriend ) wanted to have space and have some time away from him while Abe is confused because it was the first time he have experience this feeling of love and it was for Princess Nuala. Abe’s love for Princess Nuala is complicated because she is the sister of the enemy – Prince Nuada.
I enjoyed the movie very much. It was very entertaining .Red’s sarcastic humor is still amusing. And I love Abe’s character more in this movie than in the first installment of the film. They made him more human in nature because he was able to feel love.
So, if you want to watch something light and funny, I’m recommending this movie.

Christmas Cheers
Wow! The countdown to the Christmas season has really started.
A lot of the blogs I hopped into have an entry about Christmas already.
Here’s a tag from Jan
The rules are:It's so simple. Copy the photo then write your blog and your wish this Christmas 2008. Your wish has to be something PRICELESS and SELF- LESS... something that money can't buy... something that another person will treasure dearly.

1. Bits and Pieces by Jan :: I wish Gino and I will be able to convince friends to help us sponsor a simple Christmas party for the children of White Cross Children's Home in San Juan.

2. The Wifey Diaries by Jannesse : My birthday falls on the 22nd of December. I have always wished to spend it with orphaned or abandoned kids. I'd be super happy to spend my birthday with them. That way, they get early Christmas presents from me. Oh, and can I wish for a baby, too? Please?
3. My Life In Manggachupoy Street: To be able to finally FINALLY use my "Charity" coin bank. I've been keeping a coin bank that I promised myself that I'll use it to feed street kids come christmas time. It has been full with 5-peso coins for a long time now (that's how long it is already. it has been full way before the 10-peso coin was in full circulation). For 6 years i have always been working during the christmas season that by the time i get home during the new years i tend to forget about my plan and i try to catch up on what was left of all the festivities.
4. From This Side by Joy: To be able to continue the christmas practices I've set; every Christmas I set aside an amount from my 13th month pay to buy groceries and offer it during one of the masses for “Simbang Gabi.” Our parish has a gift giving program every December for the less fortunate in our community. I hope to be able to continue this tradition and plan to give a much higher amount so I can buy more items to give. I am going to increase my love offering to support the Kerygma Family of Bo Sanchez. And aside from the usual candies and coins I wishI can give out to the children carolers in our area, small presents like coin purses, stickers and other items.
I’m passing this on to Joy Ball, Kiscy, Wena, Lissa and Mier

On Mutual Fund
Last Friday I went to a fund management company to make my first investment in a mutual fund. It’s really not that big, it’s actually the minimum investment for that type of fund.
I was itching to have my money invested in it ever since I got hold of the books of Francisco Colayco and Bo Sanchez on finances.
I want to have a retirement fund as early as now and create a passive form of earning money.
Putting money in the bank for my personal savings only gives less than one percent of interest per year and it depends on the amount of money I deposited with them.
In a mutual fund company, there is no definite amount of return in my investment. It really depends on what type of fund I put it into and how risky am I as an investor. If you want to invest here you have to make sure that it’s the money you’ll be able to part with for a period of time.
Mutual fund companies pools the money of different individuals and invest it in government securities like T-bills and T bonds or they invest it in the stocks market.
Investing directly in government securities and in the stock market entails a lot of money and it is very complicated to understand the stock market.
Mutual fund companies have fund managers that do the transactions in behalf of all the investors that put money into their fund management.
You just need an initial investment of five thousand pesos to open an account with them.
It’s really just like saving in the bank but this time with a much higher return for your money.
For example you are to invest ten thousand pesos and do not make an additional investment anymore and let say that in twenty four years your money earns an average of twelve percent per year; this is how much your ten thousand pesos have grown.
After six years 20,000
After twelve years 40,000
After eighteen years 80,000
After twenty four years 160,000
Imagine, if you can invest a hundred thousand and again with no additional investment; this is how much it would have grown if it earns an average of twelve percent per year for twenty four years.
After six years 200,000
After twelve years 400,000
After eighteen years 800,000
After twenty four years 1,600,000
If you are to continuously make an additional investment the return would definitely much better then the projection I have illustrated. These computations were base on the rule 72 found in the book of Francisco Colayco.

Three Day Weekend
I'm off from work today.
I applied for a vacation leave just for today to attend to some personal matters.
It has been a productive day for me.
I'm done with my transactions with a fund management company and I am finish also with the bank errands I have to do for my father.
I had lunch at Tokyo Tokyo with my brother and I'm now in a internet cafe waiting for three in the afternoon to arrive because we want to have an ice cream at Dairy Queen and off we'll go to Pizza Hut to buy pizza for my dad.
So while waiting for three, I sneak in to write a post. I don't have anything to do anymore but I don't want to go home yet because it's really hot outside to travel. I'll just stick around here a the mall first.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone! God Bless.

My Greetings!
It’s the start of the “ Ber months” already. And this could only mean one thing and that it’s the start of our count down for Christmas.
Pinoys are known to be the people in the world with the longest Christmas season. And the anticipation for it begins on the first day of September.
Some of the radio stations are already playing Christmas songs and yesterday while listening to the Veritas AM Station on the radio, the hosts greeted their listeners a Yuletide greeting already.
So here in my blog, I’m already greeting everybody and starting my countdown to my most favorite holiday!
Let me be one of the first to say:
